About Dr. Scott Hanauer
Scott Hanauer, DPM, is specialized in advanced foot and ankle surgical and reconstructive techniques. He is trained in sports related injuries including ankle arthroscopy, ankle ligament repair and reconstruction, fracture repair, Achilles tendonitis & tears, tendon injury and cartilage restoration surgery. He also specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery including ankle replacement, flat foot and cavus foot reconstruction, ankle and midfoot fusions. He also is trained in advanced minimally invasive forefoot surgery including bunion correction, hammertoe deformity correction, and arthritis
Dr. Hanauer believes excellent patient care is based on a foundation of compassion, trust and expertise. He works with his patients to build relationships of mutual respect in order to help them return to what they love doing as safely and pain free as possible
Dr. Scott Hanauer completed his undergraduate education at University of Maryland where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiological Sciences. Dr. Hanauer earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine Degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City where he graduated in the top 10 of his class with Cum Laude honors while receiving numerous scholarships and awards. Dr. Hanauer went on to complete his residency at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Northern Virginia. During training, he served as Chief Resident. His training focused on complex surgical reconstruction of the foot & ankle. He is active in research and is an author of a number of publications and posters in peer-reviewed journals and national conferences. As an attending physician, he continues to play an active role in the training and education of residents.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, an associate member of the board of American Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and a member of the New Jersey Podiatric Medical Society. Dr. Hanauer is from Livingston, New Jersey.

Don’t choose this doctor. He is only out to make a profit, he lies to you about coverage and costs, his staff doesn’t talk to you about anything. Billing is clueless as to what’s going on and to top it off ZocDoc said he was in network when in fact he wasn’t, now I get to face some steep fees all because I booked through this app.

Today I had my first office visit with Dr. Hananuer. I wanted to start by saying that his staff is very welcoming and lovely. They made me feel very comfortable. I just love how I didn’t have to wait that long to see the doctor. Once Dr. Hanauer came into the exam room, he introduced himself and examined my right foot. He also did an X-Ray in the office, as well as ultrasound. I just truly love how Dr. Hanauer explained everything in detail about my foot pain and took his time going over my treatment options.
After a months of physical therapy and other treatments, we decided to go through with a PRP injection. I am now finally pain free.
This is truly one of the best doctors offices I’ve been to in Jersey City. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

What a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend Dr. Hanauer. As a nurse I am very particular about my medical care. Dr. Hanauer listened to my concerns and was able to diagnose and explain the best treatment plan for me. What I was most impressed with was how efficient the service was. The entire endeavour from going on Zocdoc, finding a doctor, getting my appointment, and seeing the doctor took less than 48hours. Couldn’t believe how quickly I got an appointment. All diagnostic tests, though minimal were completed on site. Staff was very professional and helpful.

Dr Scott Hanauer is by far the best Orthopedic Surgeon ever, he called me the first few days after my surgery on my broken ankle and checked on me to see what level was my pain on, and if he didn't call the nurses called, they were very attentive to my needs and I would definitely recommend Dr. Scott Hanauer.

Saw Dr. Hanauer for my painful bunions. He took the time to talk me through all of my treatment options. His educational handouts were very helpful during the pre and post surgery period as well. After surgery I was walking the same day! After 4 weeks I was back in a sneaker and was back to playing golf in only a few months! He truly made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. If you're looking for a foot specialist in the area, I would choose Dr. Hanauer. Thanks again!

I’ve seen Dr. Hanauer for multiple foot and ankle conditions including an ankle sprain and my bunion. He is conservative and was not pushy at all. But once conservative treatment failed we decided it was time to fix the problem. He and and his staff were very respectful and caring. He called me the night of and day after my procedure to see how I was feeling after my ankle surgery. I am now feeling great and back to running with no issue!

Dr. Hanauer was able to help me through a problem that I have been suffering from for years. I had previously been to 2 Podiatrists and an Orthopedist but none were able to provide a solution. I was amazed by Dr. Hanauer's expertise and his ability to maintain a friendly and personable demeanor throughout the entire process.
