Getting to know Dr. Sean Condon

I'm Founder and Clinical Director of The Flatiron Center for Psychotherapy, and a seasoned clinical psychologist and supervisor. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from New School, a Master's in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University, and a Bachelor's degree from Pitzer College. With over 20 years of experience, I have helped clients tackle anxiety, depression, personality difficulties, and relationship and career challenges. My style is warm, direct, and down to earth. I'll work closely with you, sharing my clinical knowledge and experience to help you better understand your difficulties and discover new solutions. Armed with new perspectives and insights, we can not only overcome your symptoms but help you live a life that feels freer, more authentic, and more fulfilling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want to understand your emotional and behavioral difficulties from your perspective. We want to move beyond a textbook definition of these problems to get a sense of how you experience them, how they've evolved over time, and how they impact you now. In the first few sessions, we'll develop this understanding together, which will then help us tailor your therapy specifically to your needs. Together we can craft strategies and solutions that are both more effective and more personally meaningful because they reflect not just your "diagnosis," but who you are as a person.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I look to engage each client in a conversation that is warm and supportive, but also straightforward and direct. I'll approach your difficulties with honesty, openness and curiosity. I see it as part of my job to help you better understand what you're struggling with, so that we can both see it with greater clarity and discover a way forward together. I tend to conceptualize clients' difficulties from a psychodynamic point of view, but frequently integrate elements of CBT, DBT, ACT and mindfulness-based approaches. I’m not a passive therapist who just sits and listens. My job is to help, and I'll be an active partner in understanding and solving your problems.

I am lucky to have found Dr. Condon as my therapist. Since we’ve been working together I have untangled longstanding anxiety to improve my quality of life. I don’t think I’d be where I am today without Dr. Condon’s help and have tried other therapists with limited success. I highly recommend him and his practice.
I highly recommend Dr. Condon. Working with him over the years has helped me get past my issues with anxiety and has brought very positive and transformational changes in my life. Dr. Condon has been great - always professional, engaged, perceptive, and insightful during our sessions.
I had never been in therapy before seeing Dr. Condon, but what started as a specific need has grown into weekly sessions that really dive into who I am and how I perceive the world. It’s been a great experience and a wonderful investment in myself. Whether for something specific or overall mental health, Dr Condon is a great therapist, and I most certainly would recommend him.
My experience with Dr. Condon has been fantastic. He constantly goes above and beyond in our conversations to access the fundamental issues at hand and suggests helpful actions to move forward. There are a bunch of things that I thought I would never be able to overcome but Dr. Condon has been a phenomenal partner in my journey to improve my daily mental state. He's absolutely leveled me up.
It took me a long time to make self-care a priority in my life and now I cannot imagine where I would be without having someone like Dr. Condon as a resource. Our regular talks are invaluable not only because Dr. Condon is a great listener, but also because of the insight and advice that he provides during our discussions. We should all be fortunate enough to have someone as dedicated, compassionate and knowledgeable as Dr. Condon available to help navigate the complexities of life.
I've worked with Dr. Condon on and off for several years, and during that time he has served as a sounding-board, guide, and interpreter. His approach is both empathetic but firm when he needs to be. He helps me understand the nature of my present-day concerns as well as the underlying causes by translating apparently disconnected questions into a coherent theme and guiding me to find the answers myself. I hope to continue working with Dr. Condon and to continue benefiting from his help and expertise.
I’ve been working with Dr. Sean for over 2 years. The balance, awareness, and sense of personal progress I have gained through our work is remarkable. He is an honest and open expert who knows when to dive deeper and knows how to do so gracefully. I highly recommend him!
I could not recommend Dr. Condon strongly enough! I was dealing with anxiety when I first started seeing him and his ability to listen deeply, highlight patterns, and provide thoughtful insights helped calm me down and resolve my acute issues. Even after discussing difficult topics I always feel more at ease after my sessions with Dr. Condon.

Working with Dr. Condon has been the best professional therapist pairing I have ever had. He is extremely attentive and knowledgeable, while at the same time retaining an amazing amount of information I share with him regarding both my personal and professional life. By working with Dr. Condon, I have been able to make major strides in personal growth and have been able to go off medication successfully. I recommend his practice with the highest of marks for anyone seeking to make significant life changes in a positive and healthy manner.
I highly recommend Dr. Condon for anyone seeking therapy, particularly those struggling with anxiety. He approaches each session with professionalism, compassion, curiosity, and warmth. With his expert and practiced guidance, I have learned to more healthfully process my anxiety, strengthen my emotional resilience, and cultivate a deeper and more secure sense of self. Even when digging into the tough stuff, I feel comfortable in our conversations because I know I am understood, cared for, and supported.
Dr Condon has been very helpful so far in helping me deal with my OCD and anxiety. I have been seeing him weekly for almost a year.
Dr. Condon is a great psychologist. He is highly empathetic and effective. I made great progress in the first session and in subsequent sessions have advanced greatly. Highly recommended!
I've been a patient of Dr. Condon for several years and have seen significant positive changes in my life and areas of struggle in that time. Dr. Condon has always shown engagement and interest in my treatment and provided clear insights. He's been very helpful to me.
Dr. Condon is a really great psychologist. He really listens and takes a great interest in understanding me. He has really helped me through some complicated issues and continues to help me be more mindful and reflective in a dynamic way.
Dr. Condon is an absolute professional. He somehow puts you at ease very quickly to allow for a great relationship to build. He balances asking insightful, challenging questions with great listening and retention of details in your life. I've been to other therapists that make you feel like one of many appointments in a day, but Dr. Condon is the antithesis of that experience. He displays true empathy throughout each session and recalls details from previous sessions when it is appropriate. While everyone is different in what they're seeking in a therapist, I can't imagine a better match for most people than Dr. Sean Condon.
Working with Dr. Condon has helped me get past my issues with social anxiety. I started with him a few years ago, and I’ve always felt safe and open to discuss my issues. He is intelligent and perceptive, and I’ve noticed significant growth and change in myself.
The visit was great. The office is peaceful and calm, but professional. Dr. Condon is caring, insightful, and wants his patients to live better lives. A great psychologist.
