Hi, my name is Selva, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey. My background is rooted in social work, and I have experience supporting adults of all ages through the many transitions and challenges life can bring. I have a particular passion for working with young adults as they navigate finding their way in the world, figuring out who they are, what they want, and how to build a life that feels authentic and meaningful to them. I understand that becoming independent and finding your sense of self can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming, uncertain, and sometimes a little lonely. I also have experience supporting women through challenges including anxiety, depression, and domestic violence. I strive to create a space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. A place where you don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. My approach is warm, compassionate, and person-centered. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” who you are, but about creating a safe space to slow down, understand yourself more deeply, work through what you’ve been carrying, and discover the strengths you already have within you. Wherever you are in your journey, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is client-centered, meaning I believe you are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to support you as you work toward the changes you want to make. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) interventions to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while identifying practical steps toward their goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients can expect to feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their therapy journey. I believe that building a genuine therapeutic relationship is an important foundation for meaningful progress. Creating a space where you feel comfortable being open and authentic allows us to build trust and work together toward your goals. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. I also recognize the importance of cultural humility and understanding that each person’s background, values, identity, and life experiences shape how they view themselves and the world around them. My goal is to meet you where you are, honor your individual experiences, and support you in developing tools and insight that can help you move forward with greater confidence and well-being.
