About Dr. Shaakir Mcintosh-Samuel

My name is Shaakir McIntosh-Samuel, but please feel free to call me Shaak. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and raised in Brooklyn, New York. However my family roots and ethnicity come from the beautiful tri-island nation of Grenada. I hold a B.S. from Hobart & William Smith Colleges, a M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine, a M.P.H from Tulane University and I completed my Family Medicine Residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active through exercise and basketball, spending time outdoors, gardening, reading, listening to music, and playing chess to keep a balanced mind and body. Traveling has also been a major passion of mine I’ve been fortunate to explore many parts of the world, from Costa Rica and the U.K. to Russia, the Netherlands, and throughout the Caribbean. I believe that my diverse upbringing in New York City and my global experiences have shaped my holistic approach to care. I strive to build meaningful relationships with my patients and focus on treating the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
