About Dr. Shafiq Prasla
Dr. Shafiq Prasla, DPM AACFAS is a proud local Houstonian who is a highly trained, board-certified foot and ankle surgeon. His professional aspirations began at the University of Houston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. During his undergraduate studies, he became fascinated with foot and ankle medicine. He then pursued his doctorate education in Cleveland, Ohio at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
His passion for foot and ankle medicine continued at a rigorous residency training program in Oakland, California at Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Prasla trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery under highly-qualified leaders in the profession. His passion includes forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle reconstructive surgery including trauma. His professional interests are sports medicine, total ankle replacement, and deformity corrections such as flatfoot, high arch foot, and Charcot arthropathy.
Dr. Prasla enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, watching Houston sports, and spending time with family.

First time visiting Dr. Prasla. Personally from my experience I wouldn't go back. Felt that he was unprofessional, especially when I told him I have fungus on my toenails. He told me that anyone else who tells me I have fungus is lying to me. I've had 2 other podiatrists with over 25 and 30 years of experience tell me I have had fungus. This doctor only has 5 years of experience. Also, I felt slightly nervous when he took a sample of my nail to send for lab testing since he took off a lot of nail and if he had cut it even shorter, I would have another ingrown nail. So, definitely not going in for a procedure. He says that my nails are naturally ingrown, but that's not true. I've accidentally cut them too short years ago and since doing surgery twice on the left side of my right toe, the new nail grew back more curved than it originally was. Doing my research, I found that improper cutting, tight footwear, and trauma are the most common causes of ingrown toenails, not natural growth.

Awesome doctor and staff. Very friendly and prompt with my appointment and the office is very nice. The doctor took time to listen to me and give me a very detailed diagnosis.
