About Dr. Shakiraye Rookwood
As a private office, we require that if you have managed or Medicaid insurance, you change your PCP to us before the visit. We offer care to patients ages 14 and over.
At Elora Health and Wellness, board-certified family nurse practitioner Dr. Shakiraye Rookwood, DNP, FNP-BC, provides comprehensive primary care for residents in Rockville Centre, Long Island, and New York City. Dr. Rookwood earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master’s in Family Nursing, and Bachelor’s degrees from Pace University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, New Paltz.
Elora Health and Wellness’ vision is to provide patient-centered, quality care and facilitate a collaborative environment between patient and provider. In February 2023, Dr. Rookwood opened Elora Health and Wellness to offer evidence-based, patient-centered care for people in and around Long Island. She works collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans that encourage informed healthcare decisions. Dr. Rookwood takes a holistic, personalized approach, incorporating healthy lifestyle changes and routine preventive screenings.
As a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner, Dr. Rookwood has the expertise to treat various acute and chronic health problems, including asthma, urinary tract infections, flu, diabetes, and hypertension. Patients visit for services including annual exams, Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, and STD testing. She also provides women’s health services, including Pap smears, breast exams, and referrals for mammograms and ultrasounds.
Dr. Rookwood is a compassionate provider who understands barriers to good health and takes her professional responsibility seriously. Her focus on collaborative care and patient education ensures each individual receives the help they need to thrive. Telehealth is also an option.
