Getting to know Dr. Shalini Shetty
Dr. Shalini Shetty was born and raised in India. She received her medical degree from Dr B.R. Ambedkar Medical College, a premier medical education institution in India. She completed residency in General Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, New York and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Northwell Health, New York.
Dr. Shetty comes with immense experience in treating patients across the lifespan with varied socioeconomic, cultural & ethnic backgrounds. She has experience managing patients in a variety of settings like inpatient, outpatient and emergency room. She has been practicing in Texas for the past 8 years. She is passionate about working with the special needs population (both children and adults) as well as individuals with first break of psychosis.
Trained in treating eating disorders and Tourette’s disorder, Dr Shetty specializes in treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Disruptive mood Dysregulation Disorder, Mood, Anxiety and Psychotic disorders.
Living in multiple states of the US including IL, NC, NJ and NY with varied cultures and diverse populations, has aided her to engage with her patients in a nurturing and nonjudgmental manner.
She is Dual Board certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in both General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She holds an unrestricted license to practice in Texas.
She is multilingual (English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada) and believes in meeting individuals where they are and guiding them through the process of well being.
During her spare time, she loves to cook, read, travel and spend time with her family.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Payment policy:
This is a fee-for-service practice only. Payment can be made through a secure website using credit card. We do not accept any insurance plans.
New evaluation for adults - $350 with follow-up visits - $250
New evaluation for children- $400 with follow-up visits - $ 275
Superbill can be provided for reimbursement from insurance.
Dr Shetty strongly believes in shared decision making which is a key component of patient centered care. Treatment care plans are based on clinical evidence that balances risks and patient outcomes with patient preferences and values. Dr Shetty uses evidence-based approach to meet an individual’s needs.
There is no universal approach in behavioral health. She believes that each individual is unique. Dr Shetty uses a customized approach to tailor the treatment care plans to fit each individual’s needs in a psychologically safe space that respects your privacy and openness to vulnerability. She uses a multidisciplinary approach and coordinates with different health care services when appropriate to meet the complex care needs of individuals. Each individual is approached with the same level of empathy and respect.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Once an appointment is booked online, a 15 minute screening phone call will be initially done to see if my practice can serve your needs. Once confirmed, a full evaluation will be scheduled.
The initial evaluation will be 90 minutes for children / adolescents and 60 minutes for adults. Detailed assessment including past medical and psychiatric history, family history, psychosocial history will be done.
Subsequent follow ups are 30 minutes long.
