“Dr. Eaton was amazing! She was super friendly, professional, and thorough. She took time to ask a lot of in depth questions about myself and taking the necessary steps to ensure she’s understanding everything that’s going on so she can eventually make the correct diagnosis and treatment plan. I really appreciated that as I’ve been skeptical to try medications but she made me feel seen and comfortable with everything. She also doesn’t rush into prescribing anything right away until she feels confident that she understands what’s going on with you and what the best plan for you is. I highly recommend her services to anyone who is new to using a psychiatrist and feeling on the fence about it.”

Are you depressed? Tired of trialing old medications and getting nowhere? Wondering if your diagnosis is correct? If so, I can help you! I provide you with the knowledge to help you make informed decisions about your treatment plan. This is done through interviewing, neurocognitive testing, and pharmacogenomic testing. I also value specific lab work to create a custom plan tailored to you as an individual. Please join me on this journey to better understand your psychiatric illness. I look forward to meeting you soon. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Baptist University, a Master’s in Nursing from Cox College, and a Post-Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am kind and considerate of your past experiences, yet I am also direct with my responses as I want to be transparent in my recommendations for treatment. I take the necessary time to get to know you and build a rapport as well as give you the most accurate picture of your mental health and a treatment plan that is designed for you sepcifically.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work with new medications - not just SSRi's and mood stabilizers, I also can provide neurocognitive testing. I refer to TMS, Ketamine, and other modalities as I believe in a collaborative approach to treatment. I take time to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan. I offer supportive therapy only as my main role is diagnosis and prescribing medication.

Good visit. I never feel uncomfortable speaking on things.
The office was under the impression my 9am visit was at 11am, and when they reached our (late) it was to tell me she was out of the office and they were canceling.

I got a call from someone at the provider’s office 30 minutes after my appointment time was set to start, apologizing and offering me another appointment on 09/11. I cannot wait that long to be seen, so I will schedule with another provider. Not very impressed!

I cannot say enough great things about Shannon— and I truly mean it. Talking to a psychiatrist about your mental health can be so scary, but Shannon makes it so easy. She is not only professional but also incredibly kind and genuinely invested to help improve mental health and my quality of life. It’s clear that this is more than just a job to her. Plus, the system and team she works with make reaching out so simple and easy and stress free. I’m so grateful to have found her and her team.
For mental health concerns the telehealth model is viable given you feel comfortable with the provider and open enough to talk to them. Otherwise you are often waiting months to see someone.

I have been working with Shannon to manage my Bipolar II disorder and have had a wonderful experience. She is compassionate and thoughtful. When discussing medication and side effects she provides great detail about the science, side effects, and reasons for her direction. Shannon’s care and support in managing my mood disorder has really been life changing.
Shannon is a great listener and is very attentive to my needs and experiences. I really appreciate the quick and easy communication and how deeply she cares and tries to get to the bottom of things. I really appreciate her help so far.
Initial intake session, vigorous and thorough screening criteria consisting of 2 meetings, 2.5 of online testing, and separate urinalysis test. Very thorough and in-depth analysis prior to discussing medication which is thorough but not ideal for everyone’s preferred treatment plan.

Shannon is empathetic and thoughtful. I've been seeing her for over two years, and she's helped me manage my symptoms with AND without medications. I highly recommend her.
Shannon fosters a collaborative healthcare environment by actively listening to patients and understanding their individual needs. This patient-centered approach ensures each person receives the most effective care plan. Shannon's team further streamlines the patient experience through clear communication, providing timely reminders for appointments and medication verifications.
I see Shannon through telehealth and so far every appointment has been great. Shannon is always on time (so I’m not sitting around waiting…) and if there are technical issues, her team reaches out asap. I feel as though Shannon takes the time to get to know her patients and she is the most involved psych I’ve personally had— she will ask what’s going on in my life instead of just diagnosing and prescribing! She is the first mental health provider I’ve felt truly comfortable opening up to. The occasional times I’ve had issues with getting my medication, her team is easy to contact and try to resolve the issue as soon as they can. Overall, I have only positive experiences with Shannon and her team!
I love how well Shannon takes care of me. I know I’m in good hands with someone who is knowledgeable and supportive. She genuinely cares about me and I have had tremendous results because of that.
I've been seeing Shannon for about a year now and I will continue to see her as long as I have need and as long as she is in practice. I never feel undereducated, underheard, or undervalued in our sessions. Each time, she clearly explains 1. what the medicine is, 2. what the risks & benefits are and 3. why it would be a good or not good fit for me personally. All options were discussed and no medicine was ever prescribed unless I gave consent. Medicine was never pushed/promoted, and my needs were always promoted to the highest priority. I feel supported, like I can always be honest about what I need or what problems arose, and that she listened to every detail and took my wholistic person in consideration when prescribing. I never felt like a puzzle to be solved or a problem to be fixed; I always felt like a human that she wanted to help as best she can. I couldn't recommend her more.
Shannon is an exceptional provider, embodying the epitome of compassionate care. Her attentive listening create an environment where I feel truly heard. She dives deep into uncovering underlying causes, offering insights and encouraging patients to pursue the proven manner of healing that works best for them. With a wealth of experience with many different patients her nuanced understanding of medications ensures tailored treatment plans that prioritize patient well-being.
Shannon has been such a joy to work with. She quickly came up with a plan to help lift my Mom's mood and spirits without taking aggressive measures. My Mom has seen a significant improvement in her overall mood in the past year.
Shannon made a safe space to talk through everything and anything without judgement! I appreciated her professionalism and her diligence to asking the right questions to really dig into matters.
I've been seeing Shannon for med management for over a year and have always had a great experience. She takes the time to work through everything that's going on to make sure you get the right treatment.
I've struggled to address my mental health all throughout my life and Dr. Eaton has been instrumental in helping me in my journey. She has opened my mind about what mental health is and how I can address it. She's a great listener and will help walk with you through the process. I feel so much better tackling my daily challenges and has greatly improved my relationships with my friends and family. My only regret is that I didn't do this journey sooner. I would highly recommend Dr. Eaton.
Shannon Eaton is an exceptional counselor who brings compassion, expertise, and dedication to her practice. She skillfully manages a wide range of my mental health concerns with appropriate support and insight.
Shannon has always been very understanding with my situations. She walks me through her treatment suggestions and we decide together what is best for me. She is a great provider who listens to her patients.
Shannon is fantastic. She is warm and caring and has great advice. Her experience shines - she knows what and how to ask the right questions to get to the bottom of a problem and find a fast solution. Even if it takes some work to get the right solution, it will happen.
Shannon is so kind, caring, and smart! She saw a diagnosis for me a year before I accepted it, and now I am on the right path to feeling better. During this time, she wasn’t pushy, she just continued to share her observations, recommendations, and guidance with me. She is very patient centered and wishes the best for me. When I feel scared, unsure, and don’t believe interventions will help, she says “I will believe for you,” and off we go together trying to figure out the complexity of mental health. Highly recommend!
Shannon is compassionate, empathetic and a great listener which makes it easy to open up about yourself. She really took time to get to know me and ensure that I received both the support I needed and the treatment that works best for me. I am so thankful to have found Shannon and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
