Shantelle Brokaw, RN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MA
I'm Shantelle Brokaw, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Iris Brokaw Psychiatry. For more than a decade, I've sat across from women just like you — capable, self-aware, and exhausted in a way that's hard to explain to people who don't see it. I created this practice because I believe you deserve psychiatric care that actually understands the complexity of your life, not just your symptoms. I earned my Master of Nursing from the University of Saint Joseph and have spent my career across both community mental health and private practice, with a focus throughout on women's mental health. That experience — clinical and personal — shapes how I understand the biological, hormonal, and everyday realities that affect how women feel and function. To me, care is a two-way relationship, and the better the rapport, the better you do. My goal is to understand you fully, not to categorize you by a checklist of symptoms. When medication is part of the plan, I approach it conservatively and honestly, as one tool among many and never a definition of who you are. I want us to talk through the options and weigh the long-term picture together.
