Getting to know Shara Ally

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience, I am passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare. I hold a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Strategic and Operational Leadership and an MBA in Healthcare Innovation, combining clinical expertise with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems. My specialties include treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, and developmental disabilities across the lifespan. I integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI) techniques into my practice, offering both medication management and therapeutic interventions. I bring both frontline clinical experience and a healthcare leadership perspective to patient care. My background includes extensive work with transitional-age youth, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and individuals navigating complex psychiatric and medical needs. I believe in creating a safe, inclusive environment where patients feel heard and empowered in their mental health journey. My approach emphasizes collaborative care, cultural sensitivity, and translating the latest research into personalized treatment plans. Licensed across multiple states, I'm committed to making quality mental healthcare accessible and reducing stigma surrounding mental health conditions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP (Employee Assistance Program) benefits. Welcome, and thank you for taking this meaningful step toward better mental health and well-being. Reaching out takes genuine courage, and I’m grateful you’re considering me as part of your healing journey. I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, and I take a highly personalized approach, because everyone’s mental health experiences, background, and needs are uniquely their own. When we work together, I’ll take time to understand your full story. That includes not only your current symptoms but also your history, personal goals, life circumstances, and any worries or fears you may have about treatment. You can share at your own pace. Our appointments are collaborative and built on mutual respect. I’ll explain your treatment options in plain, everyday language, discuss benefits and possible risks openly and honestly, and fully respect your right to ask questions, share concerns, and take an active role in every decision about your care. You never have to decide on the spot. I’m committed to regularly reviewing and thoughtfully adjusting your treatment plan, since finding the right medication often takes patience, flexibility, and careful changes over time. No concern is too small. If something doesn’t feel right between appointments, I want to know right away so we can address it together. I’m available and responsive throughout your care, so you never have to go through this process alone. My goal goes beyond symptom management. I aim to meaningfully improve your quality of life, daily functioning, and sense of fulfillment. I practice cultural humility and make an intentional effort to understand the social, cultural, and personal factors that shape your experience. That way, your care is truly tailored to who you are and delivered in a safe, welcoming, judgment-free space where real healing can begin.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. I see each patient as a whole person rather than a list of symptoms. Our first visit usually lasts about 60 minutes, during which we'll talk about what brings you in, your mental health history, the challenges you're facing now, and your goals for treatment. I'll also ask about your sleep, relationships, daily habits, and sources of stress, since these pieces are closely linked and help shape a plan that fits your life. Knowing what has and hasn't helped in the past allows us to build on your experience instead of starting over. Treatment is a partnership. After a careful evaluation, I'll share my impressions and explain your options, including whether medication may be helpful for you. I'll always walk you through the reasoning behind my recommendations so you can make informed decisions and take an active role in your care. Your preferences, values, and concerns matter, and we'll decide on next steps together. Follow-up appointments generally last 20 to 30 minutes. In these visits, we review your progress, see how your medication is working, address any side effects, and adjust the plan when needed. I focus on symptom improvement as well as your overall quality of life, because feeling better means something different for each person. Together, we'll make sure your treatment continues to reflect where you are and where you want to be. Questions and concerns don't always come up on schedule, so my practice offers secure messaging, and I make it a priority to respond promptly. I want you to feel supported between appointments, not just during them. Medication is often just one part of the bigger picture. If you're working with a therapist, I'm happy to coordinate with them, and I can provide referrals when additional support would be beneficial. A team approach tends to lead to the best results. Most of all, I want you to feel heard, respected, and cared for throughout our work together.

Shara has been amazing to work with. I feel seen and heard and I feel she really did come up with a great treatment plan that makes sense. She’s very personable and kind and very professional.
Made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Demanded I get up, fetch a pill bottle and show it to her despite her having the information on her computer. A lot of long awkward pauses making me feel I had done something wrong. When I described I was having the absolute worst anxiety and ptsd symptoms, she prescribed no meds and suggested I take up baking.
Shara was incredibly friendly, non-judgmental, and collaborative. She offered clear treatment options, validated my concerns, and made me feel genuinely respected and supported. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with this practice, and I’m truly grateful for the care I’ve received.
The doctor was so nice and professional. She answered all my questions and helped me better understand the importance of medication and therapy.
Shara was awesome, I felt very comfortable and heard. I really valued her analysis of my situation and was very satisfied / content with my visit. Her input was authentic, honest and informative. Thank you!
Shara Ally was so incredibly kind and patient! She asked thoughtful questions and made me feel heard even when I struggled to answer. I have not seen a professional in a while and she made me feel so at home, thank you Shara!
