About Dr. Sharon Funicelli
Sharon Funicelli, DNP, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in nursing, including critical care, emergency medicine, and academic education. Her international career across South Africa, the UK, and the U.S. has shaped her into a compassionate, globally minded and adaptable clinician.
Sharon has taught didactic and clinical courses in Maternal and Child Health for the Direct Entry MSN (DEMSN) program and remains active in nursing education and mentorship. She holds a DNP from Aspen University, an MSN in Leadership from American Sentinel University, a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Chamberlain University, and a BSN with Honors from Thames Valley University in London. Her foundational training was completed in Cape Town, South Africa.
Now focused on women’s health, Sharon provides care in areas including contraception, menstrual health, menopause support, pap smears, breast exams, and preventive screenings. She is passionate about advancing her expertise to better support the health and well-being of women across all stages of life.
Sharon is committed to patient-centered care and clinical excellence, Sharon also remains deeply involved in nursing education and mentorship. You can expect a warm, caring, patient-centered approach and dedication to empowering individuals through compassionate, evidence-based care.

I went to see Sharon Funicelli for my annual and then a follow-up. She was so nice and very personable. She listened to everything I had to say and answered all my questions. I will definitely stay with her from now on. The nurse and receptionist were also very nice. Very clean office. I am so thankful I finally found a Dr who is willing to take the time to help me.

Dr. Funicelli was fantastic. She listened, asked follow up questions and all of my concerns were addressed. The appointment was personal and informative and none of it felt clinical or impersonal. My scripts were already sent to the pharmacy before I checked out.
The office staff were the best. They were both very polite, efficient and organized. I was seen immediately, my appointment covered everything and more that I hoped to get out of it. Dr. Funicelli is an excellent and knowledgeable provider for women’s health.

I had a very thorough exam by Nurse practitioner Sharon Funicelli at Sperling Medical Associates. Sharon spent a lot of time discussing my medical issues and explaining my treatment options . We came up with plan as to address the issues . I will continue to follow up with her . The office was beautiful . The staff very helpful and kind . I highly recommend this healthcare provider and practice .

Sharon was extremely thorough and was a great listener. Her bedside manner is top notch. She was very empathetic and compassionate as I had just been through a traumatic experience and was the reason for my visit. Would highly recommend.
