Getting to know Sharon R. Katz
Have you been frustrated with not being able to understand your thoughts or talk openly with your psychiatric provider? Do you have a complex family, medical, or mental health illness that has frustrated other providers? I bring 25 years of experience working as a nurse and marriage and family therapist, combined with an additional 13 years of prescribing holistic and traditional medications. This has given me significant experience treating patients with serious mental illnesses. I work to keep patients healthy by prescribing both holistic and traditional psychiatric methods, focusing on improving functioning at home and at work. Life is hard, and getting your brain chemistry well balanced has been my focus.
I use interview skills that tease out elements in personality and home life that trigger distress. When puzzled by brain chemistry, I recommend genetic assays to determine personal biology. I believe in TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and have been working to develop a practice that will bring psychedelics into mental health treatment to enable recovery, function, and long-term stability. I work with you, your family or partner, and your healthcare team to develop a solid treatment plan that enables recovery.
I hold a Master’s in Nursing and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, which have further shaped my holistic and patient-centered approach to care.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Working together we focus on triggers to symptoms, ways you can reduce symptoms naturally or through holistic methods, and understand the role of medication. I have combined psychotherapy into my 30-minute sessions and focus on medical/psychiatric symptoms, family and identity issues, and how we can develop past the obstacles you are currently experiencing.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
