She is committed to empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds by providing compassionate care, evidence-based treatment, and valuable resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2016 and later pursued advanced education to expand her skills. What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded in collaboration, empowerment, and individualized care. I believe that clients are active participants in their treatment, and I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where adults feel heard and understood. I work closely with each client to ensure they understand their treatment options, the purpose and potential effects of medications, and strategies to improve overall mental wellness. My goal is to provide practical guidance and evidence-based care that supports long-term stability and functional improvement. Many of my clients benefit from medication management to stabilize mood, improve daily functioning, and support engagement in therapy or life goals. I focus on helping clients manage symptoms effectively while also building skills in coping, emotional regulation, stress management, and self-care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session begins with creating a calm, respectful space where patients feel heard and supported. I start by reviewing current concerns, symptoms, and how daily functioning has been affected, along with relevant medical, psychiatric, and social history. My diagnostic process is thorough and evidence-based, incorporating DSM-5 criteria, symptom patterns over time, and the patient’s personal goals and lived experience. Sessions are collaborative and patient-centered. We discuss treatment options in clear, practical terms, including the benefits and risks of medications when appropriate. I prioritize thoughtful, conservative prescribing and tailor treatment plans to each individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. While my primary role is medication management, I also integrate supportive and psychoeducational therapy into sessions. This includes helping patients better understand their diagnosis, identify triggers, develop coping strategies, and build insight that supports long-term stability. When ongoing psychotherapy would be beneficial, I collaborate closely with therapists or help patients connect with appropriate resources. Overall, sessions are focused, compassionate, and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on helping patients feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in their care.

I’ve never spoken to anyone about my anxiety and concerns about my mental health and I’m glad Dr. Johnson was there for my first. She was polite, a great listener and made sure to explain and go into details about my options for beginning my mental health journey and didn’t make me feel like she was just trying to put me on unnecessary meds. I would definitely recommend her to anyone trying to get help with their mental health.
