“ Sheila's disposition is both very professional, but also very welcoming and warm. She is a good listener, but is always on top of keeping the conversation on track. (I tend to go off on tangents, and she is great at reeling me back to a more substantive discussion, instead of letting me go on and on.) I feel like I get a lot more out of the session than previous therapist who did not have the skill to keep me focused and the time would go by and nothing would get resolved. She is very good at keeping me on track and working with me to separate the grain from the husk...which is exactly what I need right now. ”

Getting to know Sheila Lores

Welcome— I'm Sheila Lores, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in holistic, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, teens, and adults. My approach goes beyond prescriptions—I take time to understand your unique story, offer personalized treatment plans, and use tools like genetic testing to tailor medications and vitamins/supplements that truly fit you. I speak both English and Spanish and focus on understanding each person's unique background, culture, and needs. Whether you're navigating anxiety, ADHD, insomnia, mood problems, depression, emotional overwhelm, or something else, I’m here to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered every step of the way. Please send your insurance card (front & back) along with your name, DOB, address, phone, and email before your visit so we can confirm your coverage and keep your appointment on schedule.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me they feel truly heard for the first time. I take a calm, non-judgmental, and holistic approach—focusing on the whole person, not just symptoms. Together, we explore what’s working and what’s not, and I tailor treatment using therapy, medication, lifestyle support, and even genetic testing when helpful. I value collaboration and clear communication, so you’ll always understand your care and feel empowered in every step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a thoughtful and in-depth evaluation, where I take time to truly understand your story—your symptoms, history, lifestyle, and goals. From there, we collaborate on a personalized treatment plan that may include medication, supportive therapy, holistic practices, and optional genetic testing to guide medication choices. I believe in an ongoing partnership, where we regularly revisit and refine your care to ensure it continues to meet your needs. My goal is to create a process that feels clear, supportive, and empowering from start to finish.

More information on payments and coverage

At Idyllium Behavioral Health, our goal is to make your care experience as smooth and transparent as possible. To help us verify your benefits and avoid delays or unexpected charges, we ask that all patients provide complete insurance and contact information before their scheduled appointment. This includes: Front and back images of your insurance card (clear, readable photos). Full legal name as listed with your insurance company. Date of birth. Full mailing address. Best contact phone number and email address. We accept most major insurance plans, but coverage can vary widely—even within the same insurance brand. While Zocdoc may list the general name of your insurance, that does not guarantee in-network coverage. We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm: That our provider is in-network for your specific plan. Your co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance amounts. Whether prior authorization is needed for psychiatric or therapy services. If you are self-pay, payment is due at the time of booking. Rates will be discussed and confirmed before your appointment. We accept most major credit and debit cards. Please note: If your insurance cannot be verified in advance or if payment is not secured, your appointment may need to be rescheduled or canceled. Patients are responsible for all fees not covered by insurance, including deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, and services excluded from coverage. We make every effort to assist with insurance verification and cost estimates, but final responsibility for payment rests with the patient. Clear communication and timely submission of your information help us focus on what matters most—providing you with compassionate, high-quality care. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Dr. Lores was very understanding of my medical needs, gave me all of the time that I needed, and prescribed medications that actually work. She is very knowledgeable of different medical conditions, medications, and everything else necessary to diagnose and treat. Her bedside manner was also great. I highly suggest using her for your needs and I will be seeing her in the future.
Best doctor I’ve even spoken to about mental health. She genuinely shows her concern and tries to get to the bottom of the issue before prescribing anything. Very sweet and caring. Even sent me a list of vitamins and supplements I should take while on meds so I have could have the most positive experience which is something no other doctor I’ve seen has done. She doesn’t just have a 15-20 minute conversation with you, she takes her time in getting to know you which I truly appreciate. She made me comfortable and I felt like I could trust her.

I’d been putting off getting help for a while, but she made it easy to open up. She asked smart, down-to-earth questions about my sleep, workouts, and stress and explained every option, like meds, vitamins, and lifestyle. She really listened and brought up things I hadn’t even considered that could be affecting my mental health. I left feeling heard, motivated, and finally on a clear plan. Thank you.
I had an amazing experience with my PMHNP provider! She was kind, attentive, and truly took the time to understand my concerns. Her holistic approach made me feel seen and supported. I finally feel like I'm on the right path with my mental health. Highly recommend!
