Ms. Shipley graduated from Walden University with a master's degree in the field of psychiatric and mental health nursing. She has expertise in medication management and individualized treatment planning which combines pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, including therapy, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies. Ms. Shipley prioritizes holistic, patient-centered care, patient education, and shared decision-making. She aims to support her patients' long-term well-being and personal growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect a safe and supportive space where they feel genuinely heard, understood, and valued. Our time together is about exploring what matters most to them—whether that’s making sense of overwhelming emotions, navigating life changes, or finding relief from ongoing struggles. I meet each person with empathy, curiosity, and respect for their unique story. Over time, clients often begin to feel more grounded, more hopeful, and more connected to their strengths. They leave sessions with practical tools, a fresh perspective, and a clearer sense of what healing can look like for them. I hope that they walk away not only feeling supported but also empowered to take meaningful steps toward the life they want. When it comes to medication management, I focus on safety, effectiveness, and shared decision-making. This includes selecting appropriate medications, starting at the lowest effective dose, monitoring for side effects, evaluating treatment response, and making timely adjustments as needed. I also prioritize education, helping patients and families understand the purpose of medications, potential risks, and what to expect during treatment. Each treatment plan is uniquely tailored to the individual, integrating both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. This may involve psychotherapy referrals, lifestyle modifications, coping strategies, and support systems, all aligned with the person’s values and preferences. My goal is to provide care that not only addresses immediate symptoms but also supports long-term well-being and personal growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we first meet, I’ll spend time getting to know you—your history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. This typically involves discussing your symptoms, medical history, family history, and any previous experiences with medications or therapy. My role is to listen carefully, ask clarifying questions, and form a complete picture of your mental health. In our initial sessions, I focus on diagnostic evaluation. This means identifying whether your symptoms align with conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, or others, and considering how medical, psychological, or social factors may be influencing your well-being. From there, we will talk through a personalized treatment plan. This may involve: Medication management – If medication is appropriate, I’ll explain the options, how they work, and what side effects to watch for. We’ll decide together what feels right for you. Therapy or supportive counseling – While my primary role is medication management, I also integrate supportive talk therapy in sessions. This gives you space to process challenges, learn coping strategies, and track progress. Collaboration – I often coordinate care with your therapist, primary care provider, or specialists to ensure treatment is well-rounded and consistent. Follow-up sessions are typically shorter than the initial evaluation. These visits are used to check on your progress, discuss how you’re tolerating medications, and address any new concerns. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered. I believe treatment works best when you feel heard, informed, and empowered in the decisions we make together.
