Dr. Sherrie Smith, DNP, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
2950 N Church St, Ste 101, Layton, UT
I take a collaborative, whole-person approach to care—focusing not only on symptoms but on the unique story, experiences, and strengths behind them. My work is informed by years of experience across emergency departments, community mental health, and crisis intervention, and I stay current with the latest treatment options, including ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic harm reduction. I believe in meeting patients where they are and treating them as individuals, not diagnoses. I’m a Doctor of Nursing Practice as well as a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and licensed APRN with a passion for working with individuals facing serious and persistent mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adults up to age 59, helping each person find balance and stability in their mental health journey. Please note: I am accepting new patients for ongoing medication management support. I do not provide therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I received my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Utah, specializing in psychiatric mental health. I had already completed my undergraduate studies in microbiology and nursing at Weber State University. My career actually began in the ER where I became interested in psychiatric disorders, witnessing how underserved those with mental illness and neurological disorders were within the healthcare system.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll explore your history, current challenges, and goals for treatment. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapy, and lifestyle support. I prioritize education, open communication, and shared decision-making so you always feel informed and empowered in your care. My aim is to help you build resilience, find hope, and create lasting change in your mental health and overall well-being.

After scheduling your appointment, you will receive an email from Stella Mental Health (formerly Numinus) containing your intake paperwork. Please allow about 30 minutes to complete this form. Your responses will help your provider prepare for your upcoming appointment. All patients are required to complete the intake form 24 business hours before their appointment. You will receive a phone call from one of our dedicated Care Advocates, who can answer any questions you may have. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to keep on file for co-pays or cancellation fees. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full intake appointment fee ($292). During your intake appointment, you’ll spend 60 minutes with your provider collaborating on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If in-person treatments are recommended—such as TMS, Spravato, DSR SGB, or ketamine therapy—our care team will guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
