Shervin Najafi, MD, is an Interventional Spine & Pain Management Specialist. His chief clinical interests are the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders, with a special emphasis on those arising in the SPINE. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Fellowship fellowship-trained in Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Najafi’s approach to the patient begins with a thorough neuromusculoskeletal evaluation, ordering and/or reviewing previous imaging or diagnostics, if available. Once the patient has been diagnosed, Dr. Najafi offers a comprehensive and evidence-based treatment plan. This may include physical therapy, a home exercise plan, orthotics, and non-opioid medications. Dr. Najafi is also using ultrasound-guided or fluoroscopic injections and minimally invasive pain procedures to treat a wide array of conditions.
Dr. Najafi completed a General Surgery internship at North Shore-LIJ’s Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. He then completed a sub-specialty fellowship in Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Neurological Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he was involved with the training of medical students and residents.

It was our first visit with Dr. Najafi. He was pleasant, understanding, and very concerned to help my father feel better. Dr. Najafi wanted to see my father, speak with him and see where he was hurting. He took his time asking all the questions about my father's health and then asked why he was in so much pain. He was able to figure a path toward a speedy recovery for my father, that made it very easy for us to follow.

I had a great experience with Dr Najafi. I was in a lot of pain and very apprehensive. He brought just the right amount of levity to the situation and made me feel infinitely better than I did, going into the appointment. Not physically of course - but in the sense that I felt I had a plan and a diagnosis and was not just helplessly suffering, as I had felt before. He also understood how difficult it was for me to move around and was confident enough about his diagnosis that he didn’t make me go into the hospital for scans unless / until our initial approach was thoroughly executed.
