“I am deeply grateful for Dr. Waldron. I was introduced to him during a time when I felt truly stuck in my life, and he helped me see a clear path forward. Through my work with Dr. Waldron, I was able to pivot toward a life that feels aligned with my true self. Dr. Waldron is an exceptionally intuitive and deeply caring physician who is unwavering in his commitment to his patients. He has a remarkable ability to look beneath the surface and address issues at their root. He met me with compassion and patience, while also gently challenging me to change long-standing behaviors and habits that had been working against me. I have worked with many psychotherapists over the years, but I have never worked with anyone as effective or impactful as Dr. Waldron.”

Getting to know Dr. Sherwood Waldron

My hope and expectation is that my broad experience in helping individuals of all ages to find better ways to handle their feelings, relationships, and lives will help me to find a way to help you. Fully trained in child and adolescent psychiatry, it gives me particular pleasure to work as well with young people. I have spent many years studying what happens in therapy sessions and have become an internationally known expert on how, when, and whether patients benefit. I try to put that knowledge to use in every session. As a physician, I can evaluate whether medication may also be helpful in the short term while working together on problems that have contributed to your present unhappiness. My education followed by experience in child psychiatry and psychoanalysis has deepened my understanding of how meeting and talking can be helpful. We learn more from working with people than can ever be taught in a training program. And your feelings tend to be the best guide for us both. My clinical work has been evaluated by an international team of clinician-researchers at the top of the spectrum in terms of quality. I believe that our systematic studies have helped me to be more aware of how to be helpful. Medications may be helpful as well, although for many conditions, as a person makes changes to deal with problems in living the need for medications diminishes or disappears.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You will find me wanting to know a lot about you, your life, what you care about, and what you are unhappy about, for starters.
