Getting to know Dr. Shimon Schwartz

* Please note that Dr. Schwartz does NOT take Medicaid or any other insurance at this time. ** Please note that when you make an appt on Zocdoc you are signing up for an informational phone call from the practice manager. Life can feel like an uphill battle when you’re grappling with depression, anxiety, or ADHD. Each day can seem like a marathon. The weight of depression can make even the simplest tasks feel monumental. It drains you of energy and robs you of joy. Anxiety can leave you on edge and unable to relax. When you live with ADHD, you may never succeed on a task, no matter how much you prepare yourself. In the midst of these struggles, you have needs and goals like everyone else. You want relief from the weight of depression, to feel like your usual self again. You want to reclaim control over your thoughts. And you dream of success in school or at work. These are just some of the issues I can help you overcome. I am a Harvard-trained psychiatrist, specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and ADHD for all ages. I prioritize attentive listening and understanding each individual's unique experiences before prescribing medications or developing a treatment plan. My aim is for you to live free from the burden of mental health challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Thank you for considering our practice for yourself or your family's mental health needs. As a solo practitioner specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry, I provide a warm, empathetic, and supportive environment tailored to the unique challenges faced by young individuals and their families. I also treat adult patients. Personalized, Warm Care: My approach is centered around warmth and empathy. I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where both children and parents can feel comfortable and understood. Attuned to Emotional Needs: I am particularly attuned to the emotional experiences of my patients. Recognizing the deep impact of emotional pain, I carefully listen to both children and their parents to address their concerns comprehensively. Family-Centered Therapy: Understanding the family dynamics is crucial in the therapeutic process. I engage families as essential partners in treatment, ensuring that every strategy and intervention supports the family as a whole. Evidence-Based and Compassionate: While I rely on the latest evidence-based practices to inform treatment, my approach is also highly compassionate. I believe that treatment should not only be effective but also resonate emotionally and personally with my clients. Education and Support: I am committed to educating families about mental health issues and treatment options. By empowering you with knowledge, I aim to enhance your ability to support your child’s emotional and psychological growth outside of our sessions. A Commitment to Tailored Care: Each child and family is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic approaches to meet your specific needs. My goal is to help your child thrive by developing skills that foster resilience and emotional well-being. Open Communication: Maintaining open lines of communication is fundamental in my practice. I encourage questions and discussions about your child’s progress and our therapeutic approach at any time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Welcome to our practice. Here, we believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is built on understanding and trust. Here’s an overview of our typical process for working with new patients and their families: Listening First: Our first priority is to listen. Before making any assessments or recommendations, I spend time truly getting to know you and your child. This approach allows us to build a foundation of trust and ensures that the care we provide is deeply attuned to your child’s and family’s specific needs. Comprehensive Evaluation: Our initial sessions will involve a detailed evaluation. I gather information not only from our conversations but also from relevant medical histories, school, therapist and other sources if necessary. This comprehensive perspective helps in crafting a tailored treatment plan. Collaborative Treatment Planning: Once we have a thorough understanding of the challenges and needs, we’ll work together to create a evidenced-based treatment plan. Supportive Follow-up: Regular follow-up sessions are key to monitoring progress and making adjustments to the treatment plan as needed. Education and Empowerment: Throughout our time together, I will provide education about your child’s condition and discuss any questions you may have. Empowering you with knowledge enables you to better support your child’s journey outside of our sessions. If you are looking for a caring environment that prioritizes your child’s unique needs and family dynamics, please reach out to us. We are here to support you every step of the way.

This doctor made me laugh after 5 days of just crying. I have had panic attacks two times and I met 2 psychologists. They made me cry more except this doctor. I will go for other sessions with him because he is one of the best I have ever been.

my initial appointment with dr. schwartz was absolutely amazing. everything about the visit was comforting and hopeful. he asked me all the right questions, he was extremely attentive, he's a great listener and he possessed a lot of compassion. going into it for my own personal reasons, currently finding myself in a very tough place in life and feeling lousy in the beginning of our initial meeting, i had in turn felt elated at the end of the session and afterwards. thank you very much dr. schwartz.
