Hello, I’m Shirley Garcia Silva, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. I work with patients experiencing a wide range of conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, trauma, and more complex conditions including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and am currently pursuing my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. I also serve as a SAMHSA MFP DNP fellow, which reflects my commitment to expanding access to quality mental health care and supporting underserved communities.
What guides my work is a strong belief that mental health care should be both clinically effective and deeply human. I take a whole-person approach, looking beyond symptoms to understand your experiences, background, culture, and goals. As a bilingual provider, I also value being able to connect with patients in a way that feels comfortable and natural for them.
My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported, while also helping you build the tools and confidence needed to move forward. I am especially passionate about empowering my patients to take an active role in their care and helping them feel more in control of their mental health journey.

Starting care can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. When we work together, you can expect a supportive, respectful, and judgment-free environment where your voice truly matters.
I take time to listen carefully and understand what you are going through, not just clinically but personally. You will never feel rushed or dismissed. Instead, we will have open conversations where your concerns, preferences, and goals are always part of the process.
My approach is collaborative and flexible. Some patients come in knowing exactly what they need, while others are still figuring things out. Both are completely okay. I am here to guide you with compassion, provide clarity, and help you feel more confident in your care every step of the way.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
We begin with a comprehensive initial evaluation where I take the time to understand your full story. This includes your symptoms, mental health and medical history, daily life, stressors, and what you hope to gain from treatment. I also focus on building trust early so you feel comfortable and supported from the start.
After that, we create a personalized treatment plan together. This may include medication management, therapy-informed support, and lifestyle strategies, depending on your needs and preferences. I make sure to explain options clearly so you feel informed and involved in every decision.
Follow-up sessions are designed to be consistent, supportive check-ins where we review how you are feeling, track progress, and make adjustments as needed. I pay close attention to what is working and what is not, and we adapt your care accordingly.
My overall goal is to provide not just symptom relief, but a structured and supportive path that helps you build stability, insight, and long-term well-being.
