Getting to know Dr. Shivkumar Pandian
Dr. Shivkumar Pandian is the founder and owner of Pandian Medical Corporation (DBA) Adroita. He created Adroita as a welcoming place where effective treatment and exceptional care for patients are the primary focus. He graduated from Raja Muthiah Medical College in India and completed his Psychiatry training program in Brooklyn, New York where he was the Chief Resident of Psychiatry. Then he pursued further training in Addiction Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Pandian is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. He is also certified by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology as an Advanced Clinical Psychopharmacologist.

Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out the New Patient Packet forms.
General Registration Process
Please remember to bring your valid driver’s license or valid state I.D. along with your current insurance card. We require this information to authenticate your identity and to keep on file for insurance claims. Any co-pays due for a specialty visit will be collected at this time.
Once you have completed the forms. patients will be seen by our consultant for comprehensive psychiatric assessment.
Comprehensive Assessment Process: The initial assessment will be a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that can take roughly 30 – 45 minutes.
Medical records to bring :
We encourage our patient’s care giver or family or friend to be present at the initial assessment to complete a comprehensive history. Bring the following medical records information:
Recent psychiatric discharge summary
Previous psychiatric evaluation report and progress summary from your therapist and psychiatrist
Laboratory test results if done in the last 3 months
Bring your prescription bottle if you are taking any active medication (both psychiatric and medical medication)
Psychological testing results
Genetic testing reports on cytochrome P450 ( Liver enzyme gene).
What is your typical process for working with clients?
EVALUATIONS AND TREATMENT
The first step to treatment is the initial evaluation. Physicians primary focus is clinical mental health care. This evaluation may require multiple sessions to establish what the goals of treatment are (for your treatment plan). One of the goals in the initial sessions is for you and your Physician to decide if this is a good pairing to provide the services you need. Thus, completing an initial evaluation is not a guarantee of continued treatment with this Physician. Initial assessment can last up to 45 minutes. Physician’s primary modality of treatment will be pharmacotherapy (medication management for mental health issues). Medication management appointments typically last 15-25 minutes to understand your clinical status and response to treatment.
