Getting to know Dr. Silvia Sloan
I provide both psychotherapy and medication management tailored to each patient’s needs. I have expertise in treating individuals with ADHD, PTSD/trauma, panic disorder, OCD, treatment-refractory depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Additionally, I draw on my extensive experience in managing complex cases where specific medical conditions may underlie psychiatric symptoms. Understanding the person as a whole is essential for achieving better overall healing, as the body and mind are deeply connected. I am warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, and responsive in my approach.
I earned my medical degree from Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Carol Davila Facultatea de Medicina. I completed my internship in psychiatry, residency, and fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Columbia University, St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. This training has equipped me to integrate medical and psychiatric care effectively, ensuring comprehensive treatment for my patients.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I want to make sure my patients feel heard, validated and that together we will work to overcome their struggles that bring them to my office.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I am a fee-for-service physician which means I work on an out of network basis and I do not accept insurance benefits for payment but I work closely with my patients to help them secure reimbursement. The way this works is patients pay me out of pocket, I provide them with a receipt, which they submit to their insurance carrier for reimbursement of funds.
During the consultation visit or initial evaluation session I perform a detailed history, provide immediate diagnostic impressions and suggest a treatment plan. That may include recommending you to see a a different psychiatrist if I believe we are not a good fit.
Having the consultation or one time initial session will not guarantee a continuation of treatment with me, if I believe you need a different type of provider or setting.
Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $1000 for 75 minutes
Ongoing session: $600 for 45 minutes

I was very satisfied with Dr Sloan. I had been somewhat concerned going to a provider that someone had not recommended to me. I couldn't have had a better experience. Dr Sloan immediately made me feel relaxed and comfortable. She was professional, empathetic and thorough. She was a greater listener and very perceptive. I will definitely continue treatment with Dr Sloan.

Dr. Sloan was so nice and welcoming, I always get anxious seeing new providers but she immediately put me at ease. She has a warm bedside manner and compassion for her patients. Immediately after I made the appointment she contacted me to confirm and to begin paper work. I feel like we have a plan and feel secure going forward.

My visit with Dr.Stefanescu was absolutely excellent! She gave me great medical advice in a timely manner and continued to check with me about how I was doing. When looking for a psychiatrist you want someone who is understanding, motivated, and truly on your side. Dr.Stefanescu was all of those things and more!! 10/10 recommend.

Dr. Sloan is one of a kind and anyone reading this review should consider themselves lucky if they’re able to become a patient of Dr. Sloan’s. Dr. Sloan has helped me, my sister, and my son through major crises’. My son and I are so grateful to my sister for introducing us to such a special psychiatrist. Dr. Sloan is always available if you need her. If there is an emergency she will make the time and see you. If you reach out to her with a problem or even with just a question she is also fast to respond, as always. She really cares about her patients and makes you feel comfortable and will help you through any situation, big or small. The advice she gives is the best and I’m so comfortable and confident following any recommendation that she makes. She’s truly a genius in her field and if you’re reading this and considering working with her you will see for yourself and you’ll understand right away what a privilege it is to have her on your team. Speaking of team, she has worked so well with other doctors to coordinate the best care plan possible and she takes the time to learn as much as she can to be able to help you. I am so honored to be a patient of Dr. Sloan’s and I can say with confidence that any patient of hers would agree.
