if everyone would listen to Dr Scumpia they would live longer and have a better life. She saved my life.
Great appointment, Dr. Scumpia is very straightforward but extremely knowledgeable and passionate.

She was very helpful and to the point. However, did not explain much about the procedures.
She was very helpful and understanding to my needs she explained test and results

She is an awesome Dr who knows her job. She talked to me with respect.

Office staff is not very good, bedside manner isn't the best....
She was very knowledgeable and straight to the point.

the doc is very skilled and very thorough. I am very happy with her services and her attention to details. she may have very much answered my non asked questions and improved my quality of life.
Was seen really fast and the doctor was very kind. She answered all my many questions and everyone in the office was nice and friendly. In one consultation I got an ultrasound of my thyroid and got bloods done. Recommend!
Verified patient
Although her bedside manner was not impressive, to say the least, she got the job done and found more than any other doctor has. The office is great! I got my ultrasound and lab test within this one visit and have a follow up in a week for a 'complete picture' of whats going on with my thyroids.
Verified patient
Poor bedside manner, paid a lot to have her tall to me for 5 min and tell me what I already knew, didnt give me much guidance on what to do next.
I am so grateful for this doctor. I went in suspecting pre-hypothyroidism, and the doctor actually uncovered a pituitary tumor. I have made additional appointments for follow-up and treatment planning, and will modify this if my opinions change after that point.
Dr. Scumpia was amazing and thorough, took her time to explain things to me carefully. It did take an hour and half to be seen though, which I don't fault Dr. Scumpia for. My appt was at 7:00am and at 7:40am I realized everyone who came in after me was being seen right away. I asked the office staff if maybe my file was misplaced and directly after that I was pulled to the back to be seen. A nurse took some time to review my medical records and pulled me into another room for a test. During that time, the office I was in was "stolen" by words of the NP and I was told to just sit in the hallway. The office staff was talking around me about how frustrated they were with telehealth etc. It was just awkward. After about 15 min, I was pulled back into an office and Dr. Scumpia saw me within 10 min. I wish the timeliness were better but it wouldn't deter me from going back or recommend Dr. Scumpia.

Dr. Scumpia was very nice and cordial and seemed geniunely interested in making sure she was thorough. I will be back. I would have liked a little less wait time inside the office during a covid-era. Some places ask you to wait in your car and text you to come inside when they're ready to see you.
Dr.Scumpia is very thorough. I've been looking for a Dr like her for a long time. I have been misdiagnosed by too many doctors but now have found a great Dr. I highly recommend her.

awesome doctor!!!
Verified patient
Dr. Scumpia was wonderful! The lab is right in the office, so we were able to do both an ultrasound and bloodwork during my consultation. She was no-nonsense, and we were in and out with all those tests in under two hours! I would recommend her extremely highly.
Verified patient
This was a truly awful experience. Had one of the first appointments of the day. Took over an hour before the doctor saw me. I saw the doctor for about 5 minutes total during the visit. Never asked me for medical history. Didn't ask any question besides why I was there. From appointment time to leaving, I was there for 2.5 hours (there is a ton of waiting involved). Staff was incredibly rude as well. Would never recommend this place.
The girl who led me back was not super nice. Didn’t smile or ask how I was doing. But Dr. Scumpia is fantastic and I’m glad I decided to place my trust in her.
I will like them to explain more about how they charge you for the visit? I still don't get it. The personal was ok, some wer friendly and understanding others seemed to be in a rush and treat you unkindly. Doctos Simone was kind and explained some things to me. I have an follow up next week. Let's see how it goes.

She was very professional and to the point, which I really liked. I was skeptical after reading the other reviews, but so far so good!
Verified patient
Very professional, very understanding, and I really appreciated how she took the time to explain my treatment to me. I look forward to going back in the future!

She's great, very informative and thorough!
Previously I had a good review of this office after my first new patient appointment. After missing one appointment for a vitamin d the provider came into my appointment today with a not so welcoming attitude. Mind you I am not on any prescription medication from this provider and was driving two hours to see her. Never again!

I went to Dr. Scumpia regarding issues in losing weight. I thought it may be a hormonal issue or something with my thyroid. She was extremely rude to me regarding that issue. "For a person of your size, who carries that much weight, you surprisingly have a lot of muscle." A person of MY SIZE? I was about 175 at the time of my visit. That's hardly "obese"...She also suggested I go on an all liquid diet because "Nothing else will work for someone OF MY SIZE." -- Guess what lady? I've lost 15 lbs since my visit 2 months ago by counting macro nutrients and working out consistently. If you've ever struggled with your weight - there's nothing worse than hearing things like that. It's demotivating and rude. I won't ever come back to this office.

I found this practice on zoc doc and drove from San Antonio to see her. The front desk staff was quick, polite and paid great attention to detail. Dr. Simone was very welcoming and appreciative I had drove so far to see her. She thoroughly explained everything to me and I feel very reassured her treatment plan will work for me. Even the ultrasound technician was very sweet and attentive. The ultrasound technician had years of experience and made me completely comfortable during the exam. At checkout the lady was very nice and made sure I had the information for my labs and next appointment. Dr. Simone is the first endocrinologist I see and I plan to stay with her for years to come. I would whole heartedly recommend her to everyone!

I read the other reviews of this doctors office but still went anyway. The office staff is a little short with you and not friendly. They won't laugh if you make a joke because you are nervous. They won't pick up on the fact you are nervous and work to ease you. They won't say goodbye on the phone if you need to call them. They just hang up the phone when they have heard all they need to hear. The Doctor herself was pretty short with me too. I asked her "how are you?" When she came into my exam room and she did not respond. It was painfully awkward. At my follow up appointment, her diagnosis of my issue was really "idk" go see the dietician, after spending 2 minutes looking at my blood test results. This was after I paid a second copay for my follow up visit bc I was seeing the doctor again - which is true. I saw her for like 5 minutes when she told me I was fine, just not eating healthy. This was determined because she asked me to keep a very specific food journal for the week, like down to the ounces. She only looked at the first two days and decided this. She didn't even look past that (which happened to be my better eating days go figure) so I felt like all my time was wasted writing all that. The lab is at a different location so you must drive there to get your blood drawn. That wasn't a big deal to me, and the nurses are so nice there! The biggest thing I can compare it to is if I went to a doctors office run by robots. There was nothing personal or friendly about my visit here. It made me feel uncomfortable so I won't be returning.

Dr. Scumpia is VERY thorough. The staff started tests on me before I even met her and once I did, she was not dismissive of my concerns. She is a bit brisk but she is honest and to the point. I would definitely recommend her.
Verified patient
I had read warnings of the overuse of tests and the impersonal office staff on other sites, but Scumpia's professional accomplishments caused me to visit her anyway. Far too many tests to figure out that the problems I was having were unrelated to my thyroid and caused by vitamin deficiency. I came into the office with that info already available from my primary physician. Poor bedside manner, difficult to understand. I had to interrupt her to get an explanation for the diagnosis. Now when I encounter fellow local thyroid sufferers, I ask them if they've ever been to her, and I get similar stories every time.
Staff was pretty good. They were not use to ZocDoc forms so asked me repeated information that was already on the Check-In docs via ZocDoc. Overall, good experience as they performed a lot more tests in-house than Endo in Houston, TX which indicated to me they were somewhat more thorough ... Dr Scumpia was very direct and to-the-point which can be negative for some but it was great for me as those are some of my characteristics as well. Only negative for me is she doesn't book any appointments after 1PM.
Verified patient
Just like they all said.
PRO: The doctor didn't dismiss my symptoms as other have and ran a very thorough panel of tests. They have staff onsite to do lab work, and I can't say enough positive things about the woman who did my blood work. She was so careful and accommodating and the whole thing was painless! CON: It would be helpful for this office to update their address to note they are in building 3. Likewise I didn't receive any confirmation of my appointment and the office doesn't answer the phone until 8am, but the first appointment is at 7.
Just another MD trained by "The Machine" not to think for herself or try to solve a patient's lifelong health issues confirmed Scumpia's own labwork. Another pitiful relflection on our American "health care system" and it's complete eneptness. All all about the bottom line - making more money as fast as possible without regard to another person, patient or not. Sickening!

she was attentive

Thorough and to the point. If you want a Doctor who knows her stuff and gets the job done then this is the Doctor for you. Don't expect a hand-holder. I read a lot of views, and I was afraid she would be dismissive, but that is not the case at all. She is a professional. Glad to have her on my team of Doctors!
Verified patient
Horrible experience. Dr Scumpia saw me for a max of 2 minutes, was not receptive to questions, and then charged me an outrageous amount. I then called repeatedly to get my test results and can not get through. No responses to voicemails and nobody picks up the phone after repeated calls. Then I receive a letter saying that they have been trying to contact me (I havent received a single call from them) and that my tests showed that I need to make an appointment for follow up care for my medical condition. BUT I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT MY MEDICAL CONDITION IS BECAUSE THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH. Sad to see such a poor quality of service when there are people in need of medical care.
Scumpia has terrible bedside manner and overall attitude, tone and lack of communication skills renders her incapable of developing a good relationship with her patients and providing excellent care.
Verified patient
Unfortunately she has a lousy bedside manner, lacks common courtesy and doesn't really listen to determine any additional information so she may miss important data. I spoke up so hopefully all pertinent info was shared. She seems smart, capable and I have confidence she knows what she's doing with my issue right now. When my current issue is resolved I will definitely look for another MD who will listen to my concerns, explain more and not brush me off as though I am a gnat.
So, here's the deal. My sister, is a privately practicing doctor, my mother is a nurse practitioner. I grew up volunteering in hospitals and working summers closely with doctors....because I'm a huge nerd and that's what I wanted to do. Bedside manner matters. Consideration...matters. Not assuming things about your patients, and actually assessing ---- is preferred to making false assumptions about them. I was SUPER disappointed in this doctor's bedside manner. I'm coming to you, bc I am almost certain that I have hypothyroidism. So, guess what? Even though I exercise daily, am predominantly vegan...I have VERY low levels of energy, and gain weight easily and lose weight at staggeringly low levels. SO...yeah, that means that I'm NOT tiny. But NO...that doesn't mean that you get to assume that I have unhealthy cholesterol levels (which I don't)...blood pressure issues (which I don't)...and I can't even remember what else. I found this doctor to be impersonable, rude, and someone who I NEVER wanted to encounter again. And in my 30 years of existing in this world, i have NEVER chosen to not get test results because it meant having to see a doctor I didn't care for again. I never got my test results, even though they called to let me know that they came back abnormal---because it required me to sit in a room with this doctor again, and I refused to put myself through that. Listen, I'm sure she's brilliant and good at what she does. But bedside manner matters to me, and I did NOT leave with a favorable impression of this doctor. So, if it were me...I'd pass and see another specialist, which---is what I'm doing.

I thought Dr. Scumpia was a bit insensitive and abrupt for an appointment that is already tough enough to attend. Although the staff and Dr. seemed very thorough and like the care will be very good, I spent almost 3 hrs at the office for my first visit just to be told by Dr. Scumpia that it wasn't even a real appointment. Have to go back at the end of the week- hoping it doesn't take even longer for a "real" appointment...
Dr. Scumpia was amazing. I'm a long-time Type 1 diabetic, but a first time patient of hers (just relocated) and she took her time getting to know my case and doing every test in the book. Normally I wouldn't be OK with doctors doing tests that weren't exactly mandatory, but in this case it was comforting knowing my new endocrinologist wanted to cover all of the bases and beyond.
Very impressed. Will enjoy being her patient.
Verified patient
Dr Scumpia very professional and direct. She answered my questions and was very easy to understand. I think she will be able to help get me back on track!
Verified patient
Do not bother with the online ZocDoc forms. Office staff will require you to re-complete them at the office. Dr. Scumpia and medical staff are very professional.
very helpful in taking care of my problems
Verified patient
Just what I hoped for! A knowledgable professional with informed and understandable advice! Wish I'd seen the ad in the magazine sooner.
Everything went pretty well for the most part. The staff was pretty nice and helpful. She felt kind of distant , but she was very thorough. What I did like was that they did their own labs there, and I did not have to go elsewhere to do them. In all, I need to wait for further appointments to see how she is. The only bad thing was that even though they received the ZocDoc paperwork (and I asked them), they insisted on me filling essentially the same paperwork again, which felt unnecessary.
