More about Dr. Stacy Tompkins, MD
Dr. Tompkins, a native of San Diego, completed her dermatology training at Cornell-Weill Medical Center in New York. She received instruction at many prestigious hospitals such as the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the New York Hospital, the Rockefeller Institute, and the Hospital for Special Surgery. She also was elected Chief Resident and assisted in training new students. Dr. Tompkins received her medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and went on to complete an internship in internal medicine at Charity Hospital. She spent her undergraduate years at Stanford University with a major in Human Biology.
Dr. Tompkins came to private practice in 1999 after serving as a dermatology professor at UCSD School of Medicine for five years. During that time, she demonstrated excellence in patient care, teaching and served as the Director of Clinical Dermatology. She has maintained her status as an Assistant Voluntary Clinical Professor of Medicine/Dermatology and continues to teach dermatology residents on a regular basis.
Dr. Tompkins is board certified through the American Board of Dermatology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and maintains membership with the AMA. In addition, she is a nationally and internationally known lecturer and is published in many of the leading journals of dermatology.
Dr. Tompkins and her husband reside in La Jolla with their two young sons. She enjoys music, horseback riding, travel, and is an avid golfer.
