About Dr. Stalina Gowdie
Dr. Stalina Gowdie is a board-certified family medicine physician with over 15 years of experience caring for patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. She is passionate about whole-person wellness, preventive care, and building long-term relationships with her patients through every stage of life.
Before deciding to launch Gowdie Family Care Center in her home community of Oconee County, Dr. Gowdie served as Chief Medical Officer at Athens Neighborhood Health Center through the end of 2024. Before that, she spent several years at Albany Area Primary Health Care, where she served as Clinic Director of Lee Medical Arts Center and was an adjunct faculty member for the Phoebe Putney Family Medicine Residency Program.
For the past 12 years, Dr. Gowdie’s work has focused on serving underserved and rural communities, a calling she considers both an honor and a privilege. Her vision for Gowdie Family Care Center is rooted in the belief that high-quality, compassionate care should be both personal and accessible.
She lives in Oconee County with her husband, a local podiatrist, and their two children. Together, they enjoy traveling, staying connected to their community, and spending time with friends and family.

I absolutely loved my experience at this office. The staff was very friendly and Dr. Gowie actually listened to my every concern. She also explained everything to me in ways that I understood. Weta (I’m sure I misspelled her name) was great as well. She was very pleasant and friendly. I will definitely be back.

I moved to the Athens area from Pittsburgh back in January and needed a PCP to establish care down here. Normal Googling was not doing it for me so I downloaded Zodoc to see if it would help. I found Dr. Stalina Gowdie almost immediately. Everyone was amazing and assured me that everything was going to be okay. Dr. Stalina was very conversational and answered every concern I had with no hesitation. 10 stars of I could.

Finally. A Dr that listened. Not only that she understood my concerns, made suggestions, and explained them for me to clearly understand. She had empathy. And gave way better advice than the past several doctors I’ve contacted begging for mental health help. Dr Gowdie was a breath of fresh air after a year of searching for someone anyone to just listen. I am looking forward to my follow up appointment with her.
