Getting to know Dr. Steph Gutkin

Dr. Steph Gutkin (she/her) is joining our team as a clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow after receiving her Ph.D. from Fordham University’s NASP and APA-accredited School Psychology program. Dr. Gutkin received her Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Preschool Psychology from Fordham University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fairfield University. Her experience includes working with a wide range of clients between ages 2 and 15 experiencing developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Dr. Gutkin has 10+ years of experience conducting research and clinical work in early childhood education, elementary and middle schools, and testing centers. Dr. Gutkin has provided academic support to teachers and families, implemented classroom interventions, facilitated social skills groups, and administered psychological, educational, and neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents. She also has extensive experience working with caregivers and families to manage their child’s behaviors and emotions. Dr. Gutkin values understanding individuals’ intersecting identities and acknowledges the influence sociocultural factors may have on the treatment process. She is committed to the use of evidence-based treatment modalities while prioritizing the individuality of each child and family to shape the therapeutic space to their unique needs. Treatments utilized include Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT).
