Dr. Stephanie Couyoute, DNP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
FL
Struggling with anxiety, depression, trouble focusing, or sleepless nights? Whether you’re seeking help for the first time or treatment hasn’t helped enough, I offer telehealth psychiatric evaluations and medication management for teens ages 16 and older and adults. I’m Dr. Stephanie Couyoute, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I bring more than 15 years of healthcare experience across critical care, trauma, medical-surgical care, and psychiatry. This background helps me consider both your emotional and physical health; not just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I work with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, stress, burnout, grief, and major life changes. You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or know which medication to ask for. I listen to what you’re experiencing, how it affects your daily life, and what you want to change. Together, we discuss treatment options, including medication when appropriate, supportive counseling, education, and recommendations for therapy or additional services. I explain my recommendations, answer questions about benefits and side effects, and review your progress during follow-up visits. My goal is for you to understand your treatment plan, feel comfortable raising concerns, and know what happens next. Schedule an initial psychiatric evaluation to discuss your concerns and options for care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or know which medication to ask for. I meet you where you are, without judgment, and respect how your cultural background, beliefs, and personal experiences shape your needs and preferences. My role is to help you understand what you’re experiencing and make informed decisions about treatment. I explain the “why” behind my recommendations, including what a medication may help with, possible side effects, and what we’ll watch for as treatment continues. Visits may also include education, supportive counseling, and practical strategies. When helpful, I collaborate with your therapist or other healthcare providers. We’ll discuss what progress would look like for you. Rather it is sleeping more consistently, focusing better, feeling less overwhelmed, having fewer panic episodes, or returning to routines that have become difficult. Your questions and feedback help guide your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a telehealth psychiatric evaluation. I ask about your symptoms, health history, medications, sleep, daily life, and past treatment experiences; including what helped and what didn’t. Then I explain my assessment and discuss your options. Together, we decide on next steps, which may include medication management, supportive counseling, practical strategies, or referrals. Lab work may be recommended when clinically appropriate. At follow-up visits, we focus on what is helping, what is not, and what needs adjusting. We review your symptoms, daily functioning, and any medication benefits or side effects, then discuss whether to continue or change the plan.
