About Dr. Stephen Carter
From the state of Tennessee, Dr. Carter has been practicing dermatology in the Chicago area since completing his dermatology residency in 2005. Prior to making Chicago his home, he attended college at the University of Tennessee where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with highest honors (summa cum laude). After graduation, Dr. Carter attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Memphis, where he again graduated summa cum laude. While in medical school, he was selected by his physician teachers for membership in the honor society Alpha Omega Alpha in recognition of his excellent scholastic achievement and patient care. He stayed on with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center during his year of Internal Medicine internship and three years of residency training in dermatology. While a resident at UT, he was chosen to serve as the chief resident of the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Carter is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology (board-certified), is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and active member of the Chicago Dermatological Society. He attends local and national meetings regularly to provide his patients with the most up-to-date diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders.
While an increasing number of dermatologists are practicing cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Carter has chosen to stay focused on medical and surgical dermatology to ensure his patients enjoy the highest possible quality of medical care. His professional interests include management of medical disorders of the skin including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, skin infections, dermatitis, and rashes. In addition, Dr. Carter is passionate about the prevention, detection, and appropriate treatment of skin cancers and precancers.

The dr was very informative. The nurses were so friendly, my 17 year old was a nervous wreck but they were so sweet of calming him down for a blood withdrawal (his first!). They gave him couple of pieces of candy to get his blood sugar level up, a fan, and water. Such sweet groups of nurses.

Dr. Carter is an amazing provider! His bedside manner is simply incredible. After a useless visit to Urgent Care, Dr. Carter helped to dislodge the earring back from my ear within less than 20 minutes! Dr. Carter's staff is kind, knowledgeable, professional, and prompt!
