About Dr. Stephen Stanziale
Stephen Stanziale, MD, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who is board certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University and completed his residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh. As part of MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, he leads the vascular surgery service at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.
Dr. Stanziale specializes in minimally invasive endovascular therapies for carotid, renal, aortic aneurysm, lower extremity arterial, and venous disorders and is skilled in traditional open surgery.
He chose vascular surgery because of the breadth of vascular diseases and the challenge of caring for complex patients. He regards each patient with the highest priority and concern, treating every patient as he would want his family treated, often forming life-long relationships with them. He respects patient choices and thoroughly discusses all options while balancing medical decision-making and surgical treatment.
Dr. Stanziale was a Howard Hughes Scholar at the National Institutes of Health and has published more than 25 peer-reviewed medical research studies. He is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
