About Dr. Steve Mermelstein

Steve Mermelstein, MD, is a Summit Health physician specializing in pulmonology with over 46 years of experience in the medical field. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 1977. Dr. Mermelstein completed his residency at Metropolitan Hospital Center and his fellowship at Saint Luke's Hospital. His interest in medicine began in high school, fueled by a passion for biology. Dr. Mermelstein has extensive clinical experience treating patients with obstructive lung disease, sleep apnea, COPD, asthma, and other breathing and pulmonary vascular conditions. His approach to patient care centers on making patients feel comfortable and content when leaving the office, confident that their main concerns have been addressed and a successful treatment plan developed. Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Mermelstein pursues other passions, including studying the Talmud, running, skiing, and spending time with family.

Dr. Mermelstein is extremely diligent, and due to his conscientiousness my lung cancer last year was caught very early.

It just seemed like that one young lady sitting at the front reception desk was inexperienced. I wanted to make a future appointment as I was leaving and it seemed that she was unable. I have to call to set my next appointment. Last month I was put in for the wrong doctor and had to wait a month to be rescheduled. The office manager, Dr. Mermelstein, and the technicians are superb.
requested the link to patient portal to be sent by email did not get it call # on brochure and they were not able to give it called doctors office only to find out they spelled the email address wrong finally I was able to get it when log into it was not easy to navigate I needed to download or have it email to me other patient portals are so much easier to use !!!

Front desk allowed 2 men who came after me to be seen before me. I had an11:15appt. First man said his was 11:30, second said 12 p.m. I pointed out to the staff that I has waiting 1 hr and 57 minutes. front desk just shrugged when I asked why I had to wait. Doctor said he had no emergencies that day. One staff member said the front desk forgot to tell the inner staff that I was there. Been a patient of DrMermelstein 20 years. If Summit staff is the reason for the wait, I'll find a new facility and doctor. I showed the doctor the time when he came into the exam room. It was 1:05 p.m. And explained the entire situation. Doctor wanted breathing tests done but decided I was in office too long so we scheduled
