About Dr. Steve Rickman

Dr. Steve was born and graduated from high school in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He attended the University of Central Missouri, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in marketing. Initially, he intended to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales. During high school, while playing football, he suffered several neck and low back injuries and was advised by his doctor to stop playing. His mother took him to see a chiropractor, and he was immediately able to resume playing football-this experience sparked his love and interest in chiropractic care. A few years later, realizing pharmaceutical sales was not his passion, he enrolled in Cleveland Chiropractic College and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1997. He opened his practice in March 2000 in Independence, Missouri, and has been treating patients with chiropractic care ever since. Dr. Steve has been married to his wife, Kristen, for 27 years; she is truly his rock and soulmate. They have twin daughters, Mia and Zoe, who are college graduates beginning their careers. The family enjoys going to the lake and boating, attending concerts, and dining out. Dr. Steve was drawn to Curis to be part of a young company with a unique model that combines chiropractic, mental health, and nutrition all in one office. He believes this approach will help many more people who need these services-without relying on drugs to mask problems.
