About Dr. Steven Barilla

Steven Barilla, MD, is a Dermatologist. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While in medical school, Dr. Barilla conducted research on patient education and the use of technology in patient-centered care.
During his time at Wake Forest, Dr. Barilla was awarded the Charles M. Howell Memorial Excellence in Dermatology Award. Additionally, he published a textbook chapter, numerous peer-reviewed publications, and presented at both local and national dermatology conferences.
Dr. Barilla completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami. After medical school, he completed his Internship at Northwell Health Plainview Hospital in Plainview, NY, followed by his Dermatology Residency at Northwell Health in New York. He conducted numerous research projects related to healthcare disparities, skin cancer, and Mohs surgery. This work earned him the coveted 2020 Cutting Edge Research Grant from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery for his analysis of patient preferences regarding teledermatology use in Mohs surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Barilla's clinical interests include dermatologic surgery, non-melanoma skin cancer, melanoma, and other pigmented lesions. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

I had a great experience with this dermatologist. From the moment I explained my concern, they truly listened and didn’t rush me. They asked thoughtful questions, made me feel heard, and quickly diagnosed the issue. What impressed me most was how confident yet compassionate they were explaining everything clearly and offering a solution that worked right away. This was my first appointment At this office. The appointment was quick but did not feel rushed, He listened to all of my concerns. He was able to start treatment of 2 of them. He did a thorough exam of my scalp for one of my concerns and educated me on diagnosis and possible causes. I felt very comfortable and left with a clear plan for what came next.
** side note, when I was walking toward the clinic, I saw a man in scrubs walking in with coffees and doughnuts. I met him later…he was the doctor (: to me that says something positive about him. Not all bosses are kind to their staff.
