About Dr. Steven Beldner
Nationally and internationally renowned hand surgeon Dr. Steven Beldner is Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Hand and Wrist Surgery Center of Lenox Hill. He was recruited to build a world class hand and wrist center for NSLIJ after he succeeded in starting and building a similar program at Mt. Sinai/Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC where he has practiced for 20 years.
A fellow of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, he is board-certified in Orthopedics and credentialed in Hand Surgery. Dr. Beldner was elected President of the New York Society of the Hand by his tristate peers and has served on its board. He has published and lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, on problems related to the hand, wrist and elbow. His expertise is frequently sought by professional chefs, fashion designers, musicians, artists and athletic teams in the NHL, NBA and New York State Athletic Commission.
Dr. Beldner earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School in 1991 and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and was also elected its president. His postgraduate training included a surgical internship at NYU Medical Center, followed by an Orthopedic Surgery residency and Hand Fellowship also at NYU. Upon graduation, he became an active NYU staff member. At Beth Israel/ Mt Sinai Medical Centers, he was an original founder of their hand fellowship and served as their director of education. For over a decade, he was responsible for training plastic surgery residents from Albert Einstein College of Medicine about managing problems of the hand and wrist.
An active member of the International Wrist Investigators Workshop, Dr. Beldner is part of a select group of physicians from around the globe who are invited to help develop and lead research of complicated wrist conditions and share their experiences.

HORRIBLE experience with this doctor. I went to him again to remove a cyst on my hand and I regret it. He came over 2 hours late to my appointment and was not apologetic about it, he did not even mention it when he walked in (at least his staff was sorry). He talked to me like I was a child, spending time giving me statistics he already mentioned to me previously. He sarcastically told me, multiple times, “I hope you beat the odds,” as if I was too stupid to make the choice I did. Even after the procedure he did not take the time to properly assess (maybe because he was rushing due to the back up appointments) and I noticed when I got home he did not remove my cyst entirely! I already felt a certain way about his manners the first appointment but at least I was hoping he would still do his job. Seems he can’t be good at either. Would not recommend at all.

I was recommended to see Dr. Beldner, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff had a pleasant demeanor, making me feel welcome and at ease. The wait time wasn't too long, which is always appreciated.
Dr. Beldner's exam was incredibly thorough and thoughtful. He took the time to explain everything, and communicated next steps clearly, ensuring I understood my treatment plan. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Beldner and his entire team, which speaks volumes about their professionalism and care. The office itself was spacious and clean, contributing to an overall positive and comfortable environment. I highly recommend Dr. Beldner!

Dr. Beldner did my right hand surgery before. I now have left wrist issues and didn’t think twice about seeing Dr. Beldner. He is soft spoken and paid a great attention to my symptoms and troubles.
