Steven Little, LP

Psychologist
NY
Hello, I am Steven G. Little, Ph.D., BCBA-D. I am a licensed psychologist and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. I earned my Ph.D. in School Psychology from Tulane University. In addition to practicing as a behavioral psychologist, I direct a master's program in Applied Behavior Analysis. I initially began college as a chemistry major, but after my first psychology course, I realized this was the ideal path for working with and helping others. My approach is behavioral and cognitive-behavioral, with specific training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Trauma-Based Behavior Therapy using mindfulness. I take a pragmatic approach, helping clients define goals and develop tools to attain them. If progress is unclear, we adjust our strategy. I work with adolescents and adults, treating overt behavioral issues, anxiety disorders, trauma, and depression. My focus is on overt behaviors and how they are shaped by cognitions. I tend to be very open with my clients, emphasizing their strengths and reinforcing the effort they make on the path to well-being. I hope clients feel we are a team. It is very important to me to allow clients to speak and to listen carefully, guiding them toward the most positive outcomes. Goal setting is a collaborative effort between my clients and me. I am respectful of their expectations and thoughtful about when to share my perspective. Our first session focuses on gathering information about you and discussing therapy elements, such as limits of confidentiality, our roles in the process, and setting initial goals.
