Getting to know Dr. Steven Silverman

I'm a board certified psychiatrist offering care throughout the state of Pennsylvania. I completed my medical school training at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency training in psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. I work with clients facing a variety of challenges including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, personality disorders, specific phobias, and PTSD, among others. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, watching TV and movies, and spending time with my friends and family.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a psychiatrist, I take a collaborative and holistic approach, combining psychotherapy with medication management. Specifically, I utilize cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy as well as mindfulness training to enhance the therapeutic effect of psychiatric medications. As such, there are certain limitations to the level and type of care that can be safely and effectively provided. Situations that may require in-person assessment, physical examination, diagnostic testing, emergency care, or more intensive treatment may fall outside the scope of what I can offer remotely. If at any point your needs exceed what I can responsibly provide via telehealth, I will always do my best to guide you toward appropriate resources or referrals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I encourage my patients to communicate honestly about their struggles, try new strategies, and work together as a team to find the best possible treatment plan.
