Getting to know Dr. Summyji Groom
Summyji Groom is a Doctoral-prepared, Board-Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Wallace State Community College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Jacksonville State University, and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University. Summyji completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Chatham University in August 2020. She has enjoyed working in healthcare since 2003.
Her professional experience spans acute care, med-surg, substance abuse detox, and mental health, with work in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Summyji’s areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders (substance abuse and mental illness), OCD, PTSD, insomnia, and suicide risk.
