Getting to know Dr. Susan Fournier

Whatever is troubling you, reaching out to an experienced, caring, and compassionate professional is a courageous first step. For that, I applaud you. I will be here with you, offering support, empathy, and encouragement throughout the psychotherapy process. I have been a licensed Psychologist for 10 years and have helped many people through the struggle of opening up and exploring what most troubles and pains them. My clients see me as very present and down-to-earth. I utilize psychodynamic, client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment-based psychotherapies, and other evidence-based therapies to meet your unique needs. With your input, I will tailor a treatment that best suits you so our work will be truly collaborative. I have worked with people suffering from anxiety, depression, personality and panic disorders, and those carrying past traumas of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and neglect, as well as family, work, and relationship struggles. I am also interested in helping people with chronic health issues and women’s issues. I specialize in individual psychotherapy with adults from late adolescence to seniors. I have worked with persons of diverse backgrounds and beliefs and value all aspects of your identity—particularly those marginalized in your family, community, or society. Such experiences often create distress and trauma, but also resilience and vitality. I am interested in both aspects and how to integrate them into our work. I am affirming and humanistic in my approach. I earned my PsyD and Master’s in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and my Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, Barnard College. I look forward to hearing from you and beginning our journey of discovery and growth toward greater personal fulfillment and mental well-being—a fuller, richer, and more fully lived life that is truly yours.

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductible and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, Fordham, FIT, and Pratt. In-network, your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our service more affordable. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.

Thoughtful and a good listener. Empathetic, too!

The appointment was fine, she seemed nice but not a great fit for me. However, upon notifying this doctor that while I appreciated her time I would not be moving forward with doing therapy together, she never responded to my email and simply billed me. Pretty cold.
