What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, I want you to know that you will be heard, valued, and treated with compassion and respect. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I believe that mental health care is about more than symptoms or diagnoses; it is about understanding you as a whole person, including your experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals. I understand that taking the first step toward mental health care can feel overwhelming, and I want you to feel comfortable being yourself without fear of judgment. I will take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your story, and work collaboratively with you to develop a treatment plan that reflects your individual needs and preferences. Your voice matters, your feelings are valid, and your healing journey deserves patience and understanding. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable asking questions, expressing your concerns, and actively participating in your care. You are not just another appointment or diagnosis. You are a person who deserves to be heard, understood, and cared for. Together, we will work toward improving your mental well-being, building resilience, and helping you feel more empowered in your everyday life. You do not have to navigate your mental health journey alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initial Consultation (45–60 minutes) During your initial consultation, we will discuss your mental health concerns, symptoms, history, and treatment goals. I will take the time to listen to your needs and work collaboratively with you to develop an individualized treatment plan. When appropriate, medication recommendations will be guided by evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, and your individual needs and preferences. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in decisions about your mental health care. Follow-Up Appointments (20–30 minutes) Follow-up visits allow us to monitor your progress, assess your response to treatment, and make any necessary adjustments to your care plan. We will discuss how you have been feeling, any improvements or ongoing challenges, medication effectiveness and potential side effects, and any new concerns that may have arisen since your last visit. These appointments are also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share feedback, and ensure that your treatment continues to meet your needs.
