About Sydney Finley

"Sydney’s initial interest in nutrition developed from a personal experience with attempting to loose weight and improve her health and quality of life. Sydney has also always enjoyed cooking and through this discovered the significance of what we feed our bodies. She was preparing to start college around this time and decided to pursue a degree in nutrition and dietetics. Sydney’s practice in a hospital setting has given her experience working with a varied client population. This has given her the knowledge to addresses a variety of disease states such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, wounds, malnutrition, overweight/obesity, and more. She has also worked with individuals from different backgrounds and ethnicities who are working to achieve a multitude of goals. Sydney has a passion for helping to prevent development and progression of chronic diseases such as diabetes, overweight/obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. Her primary interest areas are weight loss and maintenance, disease prevention, pediatrics, and nutrition support. Sydney believes everyone should know the significance of good nutrition and have access to receiving nutrition care from trained nutrition professionals. Her mission in providing nutrition services is to educate and support individuals in consuming a diet and practicing habits that allow them to live their most healthful, fulfilling lives. Sydney strives to provide others with the knowledge, tools, and encouragement they need to make lasting lifestyle changes. Sydney obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Systems degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi (USM). She also completed her Dietetic Internship through USM and had rotations throughout Mississippi. Sydney enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs (Hank and Nanook) in their home in Mississippi. Her favorite hobbies to do outside of work include cooking, painting, and gardening.
