Getting to know Tamanna Rahman

My journey in mental health began as a patient, not a provider. My lived experience with the mental health system deeply informs the way I practice. I know the vulnerability and courage it takes to seek mental healthcare, and I strive to provide a healing space for those who may have had negative past experiences with the mental health system. My goal is to help you navigate psychiatric care in a way that is both effective and empowering. I have been working in the mental health field for 15 years, with experience in community clinics, university counseling, psychiatric emergency departments, hospitals, and mobile services. I am comfortable treating a broad range of issues, but have a particular focus on trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety. I provide a safe space for people who have experienced trauma related to identity issues, such as race, class, gender, sexuality, or immigration status. I studied literature and social movements as an undergraduate at Williams College, and completed my graduate training in nursing at Yale University. I hold a Master Psychopharmacologist Certificate from the Neuroscience Education Institute and complete yearly continuing education at Mass General/Harvard Medical School. I am a clinical instructor for Yale School of Nursing and have previously worked for Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale University Department of Internal Medicine, Wellmore Behavioral Health, and Mental Health America.
