Tammy Denny-Smith is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Georgia, experienced in both medical and mental health fields. She believes in a collaborative approach, working with individuals and families, and feels treatment is more successful when the person actively participates in their plan. Tammy provides empathetic care to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard and empowered in their journey toward holistic well-being.
Tammy is passionate about the Life is A Ride Charity, benefiting the Hooves for Hope Therapeutic Riding Program. This program serves all ages with physical, cognitive, social, and emotional challenges, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, MS, Spina Bifida, PTSD, and various behavioral disorders. It encourages self-growth and character development through equine therapy. The veterans program, Operation Hope, promotes healing and confidence for those who have served.
Academically, Tammy earned an Associate’s degree from Vincennes University, a Bachelor’s from Brenau University, and a Master’s in Family Nursing at Kennesaw State University. She began her career as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2004. After 13 years in Family Medicine, she transitioned to an outpatient mental health clinic treating adults with mental health issues, addiction, incarcerated individuals, and veterans. She completed Washburn University’s Post-Master’s Program in 2019 and became Board-Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Tammy enjoys spending time with family and friends, riding horses, camping, hiking, and enjoying nature.
