Dr. Tannaz Dabirian, PhD

Psychologist
CA
Hello! I am Dr. Dabirian, but you can call me Dr. D :) I have been a licensed psychologist in California since February 2011. I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2005 from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (formerly CGI). I am bilingual and have over 15 years of experience in various clinical settings, including nonprofit organizations, college counseling centers, private practice, community outpatient rehab centers, and prison mental health facilities. I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative process between client and therapist. In this therapeutic journey, the patient will gain insight into their current thought processes and outlooks that have shaped their daily patterns of behavior and decision-making. Together, we will revisit past experiences—such as relationships, childhood, family belief systems, trauma, and more—as needed. There is also a strong emphasis on mindfulness and the “here and now” as the client sets their current goals and expectations for therapy. I collaborate with other mental health and medical professionals to make referrals or recommendations based on my scope of practice, your treatment goals, and desired outcomes. I will always inform you before making any referral and am happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you, Dr. D “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.” “A failure is not a mistake; it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.” “Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.”

A one-side talk without any professional skill presented. The doctor didn’t show any empathy during the whole meeting, I felt like talking to a robot. The doc mentioned taking medicine a few times, and that’s the only solution she gave. She also mentioned referring me to another doctor that could speak my mother language, she mentioned it at the beginning of the meeting, the middle and the end. I don’t feel hard to understand her words and I have no problem to explain my problem with English. But if I was talking too fast or vague she could have told me and I was willing to change. Moreover, I told the doctor I felt very bad after answering the survey before the meeting, and I wished some questions about suicide in the survey could be handled more carefully because they were sensitive to people like me. But the doctor didn’t give any response to this. After all, all the information I got from the doctor is taking medicine(I refused) and referring me to another one.
