Pediatric Age Ranges: 12 months and older, No EDs or Borderline EDs Tanya Bernard is a Registered Dietitian specializing in Diabetes Management (Pre-diabetes, Type 2, Gestational Diabetes), Women’s Health, and Pre/Postnatal Nutrition. Tanya earned her MS in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and completed her internship in dietetics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. Tanya’s love for nutrition grew from a passion for food and cooking, alongside a desire to help her family manage their diabetes diagnoses. Additionally, after learning that black and brown women are disproportionately at risk for adverse birth outcomes, she felt called to support BIPOC individuals in their pre/postnatal nutrition journeys. Whether working with patients to manage diabetes or promote a healthy pregnancy, Tanya loves helping diverse individuals incorporate familiar foods into their nutrition plans. Her motto? You do not have to give up your traditional foods to eat a balanced diet! Before joining the Culina Health team, Tanya worked as an inpatient dietitian at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute. She also has experience as a chef, web designer, and conference organizer.

I am so thankful to have found Tanya. Her knowledge is so comprehensive and she is completely adept at turning that knowledge into a tailored approach. We’ve been working on my PCOS and within the first month of working with Tanya, I had more energy and ZERO menstrual cramps. I’ve suffered from severe cramps since my first period. Now in the second month, my blood glucose is stable. The best part about working with Tanya is her cultural competence. As a Black woman, it’s been such a pleasure working with another Black woman. I feel understood and supported. I was apprehensive about working with a nutritionist but now I actually look forward to our sessions! I can’t recommend Tanya enough!
I can't say enough good things about Tanya. She is knowledgeable, caring, funny, and relatable. I have been working with Tanya for over a month now and she has drastically changed the way I look at food. I can see my relationship with food changing for the better and I am so grateful for that. Tanya has taught me practical food "hacks" that are helping me be healthier, support my goals, and feel better than I have in a long time. Tanya is the best!
Tanya has been so great and encouraging as a dietician. I was really looking for some help identifying blind spots in my eating habits and she's really given me practical ways to change up what I do. For example, I like the convenience of smoothies but they tend to not keep me as full as I want them to, so she suggested using lactose free milk to up my protein and eating some nuts along with the smoothie to help with satiety. You never feel judged with Tanya, she is very much about following your lead and making sure that the changes you're making are sustainable and won't affect the overall relationship you have with eating. I would highly recommend her, she's been such an asset to me improving my health!
Tanya was wonderful! Knowledgeable, skilled, professional, and also so warm and kind. I felt comfortable opening up and I also appreciated that she shared information in an accessible, easy to understand way, and made a nutrition plan for me that I can actually implement!
Tanya is a godsend to me. She came into my world when I was experiencing a lot of depression, shame, and helplessness in my life. I'm working with a licensed counselor; however, having the additional benefit of a dietitian has opened ideas and concepts to me that I didn't even know I was struggling with until they were presented and defined. Things like body positivity, intuitive eating, and the idea that I could have a tumultuous relationship with food that has kept me from achieving the goals that genuinely matter have already begun to make a difference in my thinking, and I've only had a few sessions with her. Tanya is exceptionally patient, uplifting, and encouraging. I appreciate her so much:)
Tanya was very patient and knowledgeable with my questions. She gave me good advice without making me feel stupid. I felt comfortable to ask follow up questions and was happy to come a better idea of what I should eat and which supplements would be best for me and my health goals. Tanya was a pleasure to work with. I was nervous going into our first session as communicating about my goals/ health/ feelings around food can be nerve racking. Tanya immediately made me feel comfortable and was extremely easy to speak with and was extremely empathetic.
