Dr. Tavya Benjamin, MD, is the Chief of Urology at Glen Cove Hospital and Assistant Professor at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Central Florida, completed her residency in Urology at Hofstra University, Northwell Health, and pursued a fellowship in Interventional Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital. Her specialization lies in the comprehensive care and treatment of urological conditions, with a dedicated focus on prostate cancer screening and diagnosis as well as focal therapy for prostate cancer.
A strong advocate for advanced and efficient diagnostic methods, Dr. Benjamin utilizes MRI-ultrasound fusion technology to enhance cancer detection rates. She also employs a transperineal approach to prostate biopsy, which significantly minimizes the risk of post-biopsy infection. Dr. Benjamin participates in Northwell Health's Rapid Diagnostic Pathway, a streamlined process that ensures patients with elevated PSA levels are evaluated quickly and efficiently. This system decreases the time to MRI and biopsy, thereby reducing stress and worry for patients and allowing for more immediate treatment intervention. Dr Benjamin and staff are absolutely excellent. Been to a few Urologists and the questions they had on the intake were detailed than other urologists and helpful explaining my issues. The front desk answers the phone in a reasonable amount of time if you need help. Everyone working there was professional and curtious.
