Getting to know Taylor Chaffin

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Herzing University, my commitment to the field of mental health is driven by a profound passion for healing. Over the course of four years, I have dedicated myself to supporting patients across all stages of life, fueled by a deep-seated love for serving others. I am motivated by the opportunity to extend compassionate care, provide unwavering support, and advocate tirelessly for those navigating mental health challenges. My ultimate goal is to leave a lasting impact by nurturing resilience, fostering wellness, and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives despite their struggles. Through the integration of evidence-based practices and personalized care, I aim to inspire hope, facilitate recovery, and contribute to the ongoing de-stigmatization of mental illness in the communities I serve.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I find great fulfillment in my work, particularly in collaborating with diverse communities. However, my deepest passion and extensive expertise lie in supporting women and their families throughout the continuum of pregnancy, encompassing the prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum periods. My focus extends to addressing critical issues such as peripartum depression and other maternal mood disorders, aiming to provide comprehensive care and support during these pivotal stages of life. This specialization allows me to contribute meaningfully to the well-being and mental health of women and their families during what can be both joyous and challenging times.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my practice as a nurse practitioner, I embrace a holistic approach that encompasses various methods, approaches, and philosophies to ensure comprehensive care for my patients. Central to my practice is the utilization of holistic principles, which recognize the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in promoting overall well-being. I prioritize person-centered approaches, valuing each individual’s unique experiences, preferences, and goals. Through empathetic listening and collaboration, I empower patients to actively participate in their treatment journey. In addition to traditional medical interventions, I integrate psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and solution-focused therapy to address psychological and emotional concerns. By fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust and respect, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment conducive to healing and personal growth.

By scheduling this appointment, I attest to the following statements as part of my care agreement with Foresight Mental Health: ADHD Testing: I understand that validated, objective ADHD testing is required before initiating or continuing stimulant treatment at Foresight. I acknowledge that external records must be reviewed and approved, and that Foresight offers IVA-2 testing for a self-pay fee if needed. Medication Management: I understand that the decision to initiate, continue, or adjust medication will be made by the psychiatric provider following a full clinical assessment and is not guaranteed. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): I am not seeking MAT services (e.g., Suboxone, Methadone) for opioid use or withdrawal, as these services are not offered by Foresight.
