What should a new client know about working with you?

DISCLAIMER: We are not able to accept Medicare or Medicaid plans at this time. My path to becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner was shaped by years spent at the bedside of patients as a nurse. Time and again, I noticed how often mental health concerns were dismissed or went unaddressed. Seeing this, and knowing there was only so much I could do to help within that role, is what compelled me to become a PMHNP. I was also raised in a military family, having lived all over the country and the world, and I'm sensitive to the impact of ethnicity, culture, and environment on mental health. Additionally, as a member of a marginalized community, I bring compassion and understanding to the interplay between societal constraints and mental health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Mental health is the foundation that allows you to live a full and steady life, and my goal is to create a safe space where we can work together to stabilize and build upon that foundation. That’s why my approach is always warm, curious, compassionate, and collaborative, drawing on evidence-based practice while always considering the unique person in front of me and their specific goals. Seeking mental health care is a vulnerable process, and it can feel daunting and scary. I want our time together to feel like a warm, open-minded space, one where I can bring hope, joy, and a little humor into the work. Alongside my clinical knowledge, I'll bring your specific needs and goals to the table, and together we'll build a treatment plan that feels manageable. From there, we'll navigate the process with curiosity and flexibility, in a way that's uniquely yours. Together, as a team, we'll find a path forward.
