Getting to know Teresa Arnold

I bring 7 years of nursing and 2 years of psychiatric experience to caring for the most vulnerable among us. I started as an ICU nurse, where I witnessed firsthand the acute suffering that can result from untreated mental illness and addiction. Though we prolonged their lives, we did little to improve their quality of life or address the root causes of their distress. I realized I could do more. I earned my Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Nursing from East Tennessee State University and became a psychiatric nurse practitioner to truly make a difference—not just to save lives, but to improve them. Now I devote myself fully to understanding my patients' struggles, empowering their recovery, and walking with them on their journey toward hope and wholeness. My mission is to bring compassion into every life I touch.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a dedicated mental health provider, I understand that you are an individual with specific needs, not just a diagnosis. I will take the time needed to get to know you and use the necessary resources to provide you with excellent and compassionate mental healthcare.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in and have extensive experience working with patients struggling with severe and persistent mental illnesses (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar 1 disorder). I also specialize in and have additional education in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, anxiety disorders, and trauma. The first appointment includes a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, full medical and psychiatric history-taking, diagnostic evaluation, and medication management services tailored to your individual needs. My philosophy of care is to optimize medication management to the least amount of medications at the lowest-effective doses to optimize care.
