The peaceful setting offers Veterans an opportunity to step away from daily stressors and focus on recovery in a safe, therapeutic environment. The Refuge is a nationally recognized residential treatment center specializing in trauma, PTSD, substance use disorders, depression, and co-occurring mental health conditions. The program is built on a trauma-focused philosophy that recognizes the connection between unresolved trauma, emotional distress, and substance use, helping individuals address the underlying causes of their symptoms rather than simply treating behaviors. Treatment at The Refuge is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused therapies, relapse prevention, individual counseling, and group therapy. These clinical services are complemented by experiential and holistic approaches designed to support healing of the mind, body, and spirit.
