Getting to know Theresa RevansMcMenimon

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that all life matters and everyone deserves a second chance. We are human, which means we are expected to make mistakes. Mistakes allow fertile ground for growth, but we often feel shame and guilt about our mistakes. This shame and guilt can be hard to talk about and we hide it and hide from it. We then continue with our lives going “about our business” but feeling inadequate or like imposters. Counseling sessions provide a safe place to discuss our feelings and to know that we are accepted no matter the mistakes made. We can always learn how to improve and, from there, our confidence grows. Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of life, but when communication breaks down, even strong couples can begin to feel disconnected, misunderstood, or stuck in the same painful arguments. You may find yourselves repeating the same conflict and wondering how the relationship that once felt easy has become so difficult. Many couples come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by resentment, emotional distance, trust issues, or constant miscommunication. Even when both partners care deeply about each other, it can feel like you’re speaking different languages. These patterns can change In our work together, I help couples slow down the cycle of conflict, learn new ways to communicate, and repair emotionally. Therapy becomes a structured space where both partners feel heard, understood, and supported. Many couples begin to notice shifts in how they communicate and respond to each other within the first several sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping couples understand the deeper patterns that drive conflict. Together we work on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional connection. Seeking couples therapy means you care enough to work on your relationship
