Although I did not see Dr. Canty this visit, I did see his associate Dr. Ali and his PA. Both were very nice and listened to my concerns. I received trigger point injections which immediately alleviated my intense pain. I especially found the PA's recommendations for future treatments very helpful and well informed. I will continue to use this practice for my pain management.
This was my 2nd appointment with Dr. Canty, the first time I only saw assistants. This appointment was for a back injection. 1. Once they called me in to a room to sit in a chair, there was a curtain with another patient apparently getting dressed. That is very informal. 2. I realized passed this curtain and the women was the OR room was. Shouldn't we change into gowns to keep outside dirty and allergens to a minimum? 3. Once I was now behind this curtain waiting my turn, a young tech came in with gloves and opened the door, he then proceeded to "sterilize" my back without changing gloves! 4. I also noticed that the table they have you lay on was not disinfected and did not have any paper as most hospital beds do to prevent spread of germs or diseases. 5. The doctor only introduced himself once my face was down so I only saw his shoes, how unprofessional. 6. I didn't see the women who injected needle use new gloves either. In a world where we now how diseases such as AIDS/HIV, West Nile, and Hepatitis are spread through blood, why wouldn't they ensure safety and to be as clean as possible. I have seen my dogs Operating Room and it was more sanitary than this place!
First of all, I did not see Dr. Canty. I saw another doctor (or possibly PA/NP; it wasn't clear). Dr. Canty came in afterwards, but only because the doctor/PA seeing me didn't know how to treat me and wanted his opinion. This is fine, but it wasn't made clear to me when I booked my appointment, and I think it should have been. They were not sure how to treat my pain. I was hoping that they would try a nerve block of some sort, since my pain is neurological, but they did not. They prescribed a higher dose of the pain medication I was already taking (gabapentin), even though I told them I had tried to increase my dose and suffered from intolerable side effects when I did (severe vertigo and ringing in my ears, as well as some cognitive delays that are alarming to me as I am only 31). Even though he mentioned other antiseizure medications and antidepressants that have been used to treat neuralgias/neuropathies, Dr. Canty said I had to try again to increase my dose so I left with a paper prescription. I thought that was unusual, since NY requires electronic prescriptions from most doctors. I was discouraged because they told me to come back in "a couple of months" if things didn't improve. I've been dealing with an incredibly painful condition that has taken the better part of a year to diagnose and even begin to treat, and the thought of going another week with this is unbearable - let alone a couple of months. I'm 31 years old and otherwise in perfect health and excellent physical shape. I was looking for a doctor to be on my side to try and help me manage my pain enough to get back to living a relatively normal life. I did not feel like he was empathetic or even really on my side. I didn't run into any trouble with my pharmacy with the paper prescription. However, the prescription was missing the pill quantity so they could not fill it. They told me they called the office three times but never got a response. I called to follow up and left a message with the receptionist, but have yet to hear back, and they have not gotten back to my pharmacy yet either. This does not give me much faith in the practice. I also thought the wait time was absolutely unacceptable. They have a sign in sheet at the front desk, where you write your appointment time (among other things). They double book appointments in 15 minute increments (so, two appointments at 4pm, two more at 4:15). I work at a major hospital and think this is a careless practice that inevitably leads to being tremendously backed up. I waited for over an hour to be brought into an exam room, an additional 30 minutes in the exam room, and then, after being seen for under 10 minutes, waited again in the waiting room for another 10 minutes for my prescription.
His PA was incredible.
Dr. Canty and his staff are true professionals. They are amazing and helped my pain. I have been trying to get relief for years and I finally found it with Dr. Canty. I never write reviews. However, I needed to do so. My pain has abundantly subsided since I have been going to him. . I highly recommend him and his staff! ??
Nothing is worse than when a doctor on ZocDoc leaves their entire schedule as available on ZocDoc, only to be left sitting in their waiting room for HOURS. That is what happened today with Dr Tim Canty, who had me waiting for over 90 minutes. It is completely disrespectful when doctors do this.. He seems to be a good doctor, although his office is a bit unsanitary, and the table he had me sit on had no paper on it, and the head rest was deteriorating. I will definitely NOT return to this doctor, nor would I recommend him to anybody. Bottom line: RESPECT your patients' time - and be clean!!!
I like Dr Canty's office very much. very clean, great staff and the PA is awesome. highly recommended.
Dr. Canty worked his magic once again. I truly respect him. I literally walked in hurting so bad and walked out feeling like a million bucks. I am not joking! I have had chronic pain for some time and he is the only doctor who has helped me. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Canty works wonders...but the wait time is way too long
Proficient with successful results, always. Unlike other doctors, never a long wait. Reception staff are very helpful with empathy for patients' pain. Dr. Canty and his medical team get right to the source of pain and treat diligently!!!
dr. canty does an excellent job keeping you at ease when having a procedure done . he has surrounded himself with a great and courteous staff
Superior as always. He and his staff are beyond flawless.
Patients left the waiting room because of the wait. Sent my info with ZOCDOC via online checkin, still had to tell the assistance all my history and later the PA again.
Always an exceptional experience. Such a wonderful gift that the office staff is so caring, compassionate and understanding. The whole office is really a great group of people. And I could not have more trust and confidence in Dr. Canty. He is really a brilliant doctor.
I can't speak higher in regards to the treatment I received from Dr. Canty and his staff. They were unbelievably professional and really made sure to understand my problems so they could best address them.
Best Pain Doc in NYC
I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Canty and his staff. From the moment I entered the office I was greeted warmly and received. The ladies at the front desk were very kind and helpful. I have suffered chronic lower back pain for years. This time when my back went out the pain was unbearable. It hurt to walk and even stand and the pain radiated down my left leg and up entire left side, even giving me terrible headaches. On my first visit with Dr. Canty his medical staff was superior. His PA Christine is wonderful and instills great confidence due to her immense knowledge of the body. She examined me thoroughly and knew right where the points of pain were. She explained what the problem was exactly but said I needed an MRI so that they could be sure. I was in terrible pain and my heart sunk when I thought that was all that could be done until the MRI. She then said that until the MRI they could offer me the trigger point injections. I was so grateful I felt like crying from reief just to hear that I could be helped immediately. Christine gave me the injections which did not hurt at all and after a few minutes I was able to stand up and bend over which I hadn't been able to do for about two weeks. I jquickly scheduled my MRI with Lenox Hill radiology where I am going tomorrow afternoon. After they get the results back, Dr. Canty will phone me to schedule my next visit with him. As I said previously I am entirely grateful to the doctor and his kind knowledgeable staff.
The staff was welcoming, care and attention was good. This was my first visit to the clinic.
Dr. Canty and his staff rocks! I was hurting so bad walking in and I feel like a princess walking out! I have a quality of life after I see Dr. Canty.. Thank you so much for making me feel better! Love you guys!
One word. Dr. Canty & Staff Awesome.
Excellent first visit. Jim, the PA, spent a lot of time talking through my medical history and I felt very listened to as a patient. My impression is that this practice really does put the patient first.
If you're in pain...he's a life saver
dr canty has no control over his office. my appointment was for 1 PM and i did not get seen until 230. you just cannot, CANNOT treat people like that. I'm sorry, but my time matters, i have a job i miss when im held in that office for hours on end. Whos going to make up for the work i need to do? Dr Canty? He needs to learn how to keep his appointments and not run his office like a circus. I go to the doctor because im in pain and needs help, not because i want to piss away hours of my day waiting around for nothing. if you want to see a monkey on a unicycle with an umbrella call dr canty, if you want to be seen on time by a professional look elsewhere
I have had several epidural injections and while they are not "painful" they are never pleasant experience, however today I never even felt a single injection, not even the lidocaine to numb the area. I kept waiting for the tell tail pinch followed by burn and thought what Dr Canty was doing was just prepping not the actual injection, however, next thing I knew he said he was done, still can't believe it. He must have magic hands, I never felt a single injection and usually I will have about 2-3 lidocaine pinches per area. Dr Canty was also very kind, great pt interaction. I am hopeful I will have better outcome working with Dr. Canty.
Dr. Canty and his staff were top notch professionals. Dr. Canty has extensive knowledge in his field and knew right away how to address my issue and took action on the first visit. His team was awesome and very helpful and polite. I highly recommend . I am feeling so much better and it's only been 2 hours since I left the office. Thank you guys! You did a great job!
The man is a miracle worker
So far, so good. I was LISTENED TO! The magic of doctors listening to patients makes all the difference in the world. My story is super complicated!
I am highly impressed. I always get good results and humane easy to book followup.
The practice looked clean and bright. After a short wait, I was seen by Dr Canty's assistant who was nice and answered all questions. Dr Canty professionalism and the precision of his gestures inspire confidence. To improve the experience, he could provide more explanations.
Dr. Canty was very thorough and really took the time to explain why I was experiencing my neck pain. His treatment helped to reduce my pain tremendously and I'm very happy with the outcome.
Dr. Canty is always willing to listen to and address your concerns. I have been a patient for a few years now and would not go to anyone else. I have suffered with chronic back pain for over 25 years and before seeing Dr. Canty I could not find relief. I tried orthopedists, chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists and acupuncturists to no avail. I now get trigger point injections from Dr. Canty every three to four months and my pain is greatly reduced.
Went well. He spent as much time as I needed to answer questions.
Super clean and friendly waiting room. Pleasant and promt staff. Dr. Canty is an excellent doctor and sets the bar for all.
He is the best
My visit with Dr Canty was great as always. He is personable and easy to talk to. His skill as a physiatrist and pain management doctor is unmatched. After 20 years of suffering I am so glad to have found him.
Very professional, courteous, knowledgeable. A great Doctor and staff. And the office decor is awesome too.
Very professional and very thorough. Wonderful Doctor.
I have been going to Dr. Canty for some time now and am very pleased with the results. He listens to your complaints and suggests the best course of treatment, which for me always works. Usually I am in and out of his office quickly but on this visit it seems as if they overbooked and I waited longer than usual. The office staff are very nice and accommodating but seem a little disorganized at times.
I liked that they took the time to ask many questions and listen carefully. I felt very comfortable and felt like he listened and addressed my concerns.
As always, Dr. Canty and his staff are simply the best.
This is my second review of Dr. Canty and his staff, it's been 9 months since I last saw him and its great to see the experience from A-Z has not only remained top notch but improved. Dr. Canty is possibly the most compassionate doctor I've had the pleasure of meeting. When I come in with terrible pain I can truly see the look of concern in his face. I waited 45 seconds, was taken back and assessed by one of his nurses, Dr Canty popped his head in to say hello, and I was taken back for injection within 5 mins. His nurse that helps in the procedure room is a total sweetheart. They spoke to me throughout the procedure and told me what was happening and what to expect. I always come in nervous and upset and Dr Canty tries to calm me and assure me that everything is going to be ok. Sometimes it's the small stuff that makes the difference and I am so blessed to have found Dr Canty and his staff. Thank you guys for all you do for me!
As always, Fast, Professional, just an awesome Doctor! I highly recommend.
well he has it down has pain medication and thats not true because he said he only does injections so why even have a tab that says pain medication prescription, dont make any sense first time ive ever seen that.
I would recommend him to anyone who required the same assistance. Ive been suffering for months. He was determined to get the ball rolling to releave my pain. Easy to talk too, answered all my questions. Cant ask for much more
Very thorough and amazing staff. Second to none, in my experience. This being my first visit I can only speak on the Doctor's speed at attaining the records needed to move forward in following visits and I will tell you all they asked of me was my pcp's business card as well as specialists and by the time I left (with cup of hot tea in hand made for me during my 5 minute wait) they has all my records in hand. If this is what I am expect in future visits then they set a new bar.
Excellent as always! Best pain specialist I've ever been to.
They were traing girls on the computer and after a while it got tedious having to repeat the same answers. I guess this was a consultation visit so I really did not get anything done. I got a prescription and not until he gets results of MRI he said he would know hot to proceed.
As with every visit Dr. Canty was professional, caring, compassionate. Dr. Canty has been managing my pain for almost three years after a horrible accident. He is great at what he does and in my personal opinion a role model for Doctors in his field.
The office staff was amazingly nice. The only reason my wait was a little longer than usual this time was because of the hurricane (their computers were still a little glitchy) so I really didn't mind the wait. I was brought in to the room and had a conversation with the nurse and then Dr Canty came in and spoke to me. He didn't seem rushed, and was able to answer all of my questions.
Dr Canty and his whole staff are amazing! You can tell Dr Canty sincerely cares if his patients are suffering and wants to get to the root of the problem. His staff always welcomes you with smiles and warm hellos. I don't know what happened with the person that said they waited 3 hours, I have NEVER waited more then 10 mins even when I made a mistake and came an hour and a half early once. Truly exceptional doctor and staff! Thank you guys!
horrible had to wait for three hours and I had an appointment and the staff was very rude
As always, Professional, Communication A++. Highly Recommend.
He's extremely responsable and caring.
Dr. Canty was very friendly in explaining everything about what I needed to do and the steps he would like to take for the next visit. Made me feel very comfortable in talking to him about my lower back pain.
The doctor gave me amazing options in helping my pain. Go see him!
First class medicine
The role model for all private practice Doctors. Highly recommend. Beautiful clean office, professional staff, awesome Doctor!
Excellent doctor. Really listened to me and provided options to relieve my chronic back pain.
honest and caring
Dr Canty was great. Unfortunately the doctor he recommend me to was a disaster. I never solved the problem I had and still have.
The staff are polite and kind. The doctor listens to you and tries to resolve your problem sincerely. You wouldn't regret to see him.
Dr. Canty is absolutly a leader in his field. Fast, Friendly, Extremely Professional. Highly Recommended. A+++
Honestly, the best experience I've had at a Dr in a long time... Saw me right away and was able to have an epidural for my back in minutes (on the first visit)... HIGHLY recommend.
Everybody was very nice and willing to help.
As always fast and professional. Takes time with you and answers all your questions. Simply awesome.
Professional, Compassionate, Knowledgeable, Trustworthy. He is top notch in his field. I highly recommend him. He goes above and beyond your expectations. His talent is superb A+++. He should receive an A.M.A award in excellence.
Dr. Canty is very professional, knowledgeable, and provides excellent care. I had terrible back pain that I had never experienced before, he asked a few questions and examined me and knew exactly what was wrong and gave me the best prescription: rest, medicine and physical therapy. I highly recommended him!
Dr. Canty is incredible. He takes his time to listen to you and is never in a rush. I highly recommend him!
My experience with Dr. Canty was excellent. I have literally seen dozens of "top notch" doctors for my chronic pain and I can say with absolute certainty that Dr. Canty was by far the best doctor I've seen yet. He listened to everything I had to say and gave great, straight-forward medical advice. He also didn't waste any time whatsoever - meaning, he didn't schedule me to have more tests (MRIs, etc.) done and come back to see him; rather, he went right to work and helped me immediately. Also, great staff - very friendly and knowledgable nurses, etc.
very nice man! very happy with him
I was seen by a receptionist as soon as I arrived for pre-exam information and saw the doctor within minutes after that was completed. Dr. Canty was friendly, accessible, clear in his explanations and willing to hear and answer my questions.I never felt rushed.
